Re: Is spudding dead?
This phrase was frequently uttered by a professor at the orchestral instrumentation university, when we did not do the work. He was referring to art, saying that musical art is a very large field of knowledge and that the life of a human being is not enough to cover it. I took it as a premise for al...

Hammer->Qev->Piston rifle
This is my first cannon posting, though i've dabbled in 'spuddery' for many years now. I finally had some time to try a new build design, and I think it turned out pretty well (though i'm still tinkering/redesigning it). 1/2" copper barrel, 3/4" copper cylinder. delrin piston with o-rings, and an eq...

Re: Rapid Fire Hybrid System
A video of test firing of this weapon, grayed out now. I'm shooting with 18g pellets attached to rupture discs, in this case two, for 9X. With three discs, the power is higher, but I have to increase the pressure to 10-11X because otherwise there are times when the disc does not break. Other than th...

Re: Single-pump handgun
Very good contribution the patent of this system. I couldn't find anything, myself, regarding this. Thank you very much for sharing I have a 3D printer but it's not mine, it's my friend's. He is doing the CAD drawings of this gun. I've been asked to build 5 or 6 guns just like this one by hobbyists ...

Re: Is spudding dead?
Quite. And to be honest, the addition of the little "thumbs up" icon at the top of every post does little to help. Gamification of social interaction, it fucking sucks.

Re: Short question topic
It's not water, but if I pass a cotton ball through the inside of the barrel, it comes out quite wet. Putting some water in a sound suppressor to enhance the effect is a well-known trick for firearms, the fluid helps to cool the hot gasses and thus lowers the pressure. I would not be surprised if i...

Re: Rapid Fire Hybrid System
Excellent, that's a lot of cans perforated! It's because it has more pressure... and therefore more fuel. Transfers 4 full cans safely, and at 11X, 5 1/2, from a short distance, about 6 meters. At 20 meters, it goes through 3 cans cleanly. I have not tried further, because it is very difficult to h...

Re: Is spudding dead?
There are a lot of people, hobbyists, who make their own stuff, from homemade PCP guns, to combustion springs, hybrids, and god knows how many more. It seems that only the scenario has changed, the forums for social networks. The hand above "I like it" is sometimes the only "affective" retribution o...

Re: Is spudding dead?
Returning from the dead to post once again. As much as I too lament the decline of the hobby forum and shift to social media, in retrospect it was probably inevitable. Hobby forums were typically operated with little interest in profit, and a large degree of interest in maintaining a community, arch...

Re: Hammer->Qev->Piston rifle
Yes, JSR, the QEV was added due to difficulties in getting the hammer-valve to trigger my piston. I figured a QEV is probably more sensitive to a smaller drop in pressure than my piston was, and it worked out to be true. The current design using the Delrin piston (with orings) and largely reduced pi...

Re: Is spudding dead?
I like that idea, Hector.
There's a few people on here with machine tools (I'm one), maybe some community machining of specific parts? Maybe a design for a specific high performance hammer valve, something like that?

Re: Is spudding dead?
perhaps going down the path of COOPERATION and not COMPETITION is more profitable. A simple project or a series of projects and not so much is the way to encourage participation. I mean, do it together. A chimera? perhaps, but surely it is trying to give it shape and viability.

I hope it is something simple the problem of your machine. Surely it is so.
