AAAA Batt specs help... Not AAA

Sorry if this has been done till dead...

Does any one use AAAA batteries in their air cannon?
I have a full metal/alloy, modified piston rifle, run's 150PS.... Blah, blah, blah...
Anyway's it's good.. I'll post later.. Modding now..

I'm in Aus and am interested, if anyone had run spec's on AAAA batteries?
No not AAA, AAAA...
Not really cost effective to buy... but has anyone else figured out where to find them? Just wondering...


Just in case you forgot... (sorry about the metric, well not really, i've taken the time to learn Imperial so...) Bare in mind these spec's will vary slightly between brand's and type of batt... Lith-ion, Ni-Cad,NiMH..

AA- Width:14mm (depending on plastic shroud thickness)
Length:50mm (Including terminal ends)
Weight:24.7g

AAA- Width:10mm (depending on plastic shroud thickness)
Length:44mm (Including terminal ends)
Weight:12.1g

AAAA- Width:8mm (No plastic shroud on{I got them out of another battery})
Length:40mm (Including terminal ends)
Weight:6.4g

Any help would be tops!

Assuming that round is solid it will tumble in flight. You either need to.

1. make the front heavier then the tail
2. drill out the base (same as 1.)
3. add some kind of tail brake (streamer etc)
Are you aware of how they hit the target when you tested them?

Oh, my local hardware store carries them... and I don't mean in 9 volts.
Otherwise? Haven't seen em anywhere.

Well so far, they have shot very similar to shooting AAA or AA..
They seem to stay, dead straight for atleast 12m. With the tip's on I seem to easily, get grouping's of 5 shot's in a 150mm target from 30m..

1. Front is heavier than the back.. Due to the stainless steel tip... Tip weights- 4g...
2. I don't think I can "drill" out the base... it's a sealed Alkaline battery like a AAA...
It might get a bit messy...
3. I have many different types of darts for hunting, practice... Some with "streamer's", but most with as you have stated, cone or projectile with hole drilled in the back to aid the shot..

For this one however, I was hoping to go for something with a 'lil more knock down force, as well penetration.. But on a low cal projectile.

Have you... put soldering iron tips on those?

No I haven't, put soldering iron tips on them..
They have Stainless tips that a friend and myself machined..

Got my new pump...
Did some shot's at 160-170PSI..
AAAA's stay straight for atleast 20m without tip's.. No fluctuations in flight either... And are always hitting on the end fired first... no spinning..
The extra 20 PSI seems to have done the trick..
Go straight through 1/4 ply, up to 10m.

Tip's get permentantly fixed to batt's tomorrow...
Will try to get some shot's up...


The point of these are to take out big motha rats...
At this rate I don't think, there is going to be much rat left when I hit one..

Hopefully the tip will allow the projectile to go straight through.. So I don't have to cut the bugga open to get my round back...

This is with your basic nail for small cal hunting...
And my 320mm for skewering the bigger rodents... They tend to run away with smaller darts in them... Not with these babies...

This is what I have been using... Has been effective...


Both these shots were from from 15m... Into 1/4 in Pine ply... slightly weathered as you can see... Only bought it a week ago though so it's not old.
Fairly good penetration..
At 110PSI (Was getting a bit late... Will try 160 tomorrow)

if you can machine (have access to machines etc.) why do you want to use batteries....? use steel rods and machine them

I don't have access to a machine laith any more...

And in Aus it's not so cool, having projectile's that look very similar to rifle rounds lying around...

These are also easy to make up when I need them..
