Im about to go to the fastenal store down the road and get this
but according to to the fastenal website, the qev has NPTF threads will these threads work with regular galvanized piping and fittings? Also does the
tube x tube in the description have any meaning? Expect a BTB style shotgun from me :D

BTW: Do you think the 1in qev is worth it considering the price, and do you know if it comes as pictured.

Yep, the threads will work just fine with galvanized, iron, PVC, copper, anything advertised as having NPT threads.

NPTF threads are more less compatible with BSP (it's not a perfect fit but they'll work)... but first of all where do you live... AFAIK you use NPT threads in US so if you live there it's not a problem...

I don't think that 'tube x tube' really means anything

The 1" QEV is really overpriced... sure it will give you better performance for bigger bores but the price is a rip-off

... :!: :!: :!:

I don't know if this is off topic, but I WANT TO THANK YOU SO MUCH I COULD KISS YOU!!!

I just did a location search for Fastenall, and theres a location RIGHT NEAR MY HOUSE! NO MORE HOME DEPOT FOR ME!!!!

Okay, now that I have that out of my system, yes. It will fit. NPTF is the same as NPT, which is what most PVC and brass/copper fittings are.

Maybe a little too much information there SEAK...

I wouldn't totally write off Home Depot/Lowes quite yet. For more common items, they still may be your best choice for convenience and price.

$149.25 for a 1" valve? No. You could make a worthwhile piston valve for much less. Also, yes and complain that it's false advertising if they flog you something completely different.

I bought two of those exact same QEV's from Fastenal before, and they work great, but the store near me doesn't stock them, so they have to be ordered, which only takes 2 or 3 days, but is a pain if you are trying to finish a project quickly.

Thanks guys! SEA please stay away from me please
Hotwired the only reason I would be willing to pay that much for it is because of the aesthetics of it, If any one knows of another store or website where I can find a 1in Qev or bigger with close to the same appearance I would love it. :D

Holy Fricken AWESOME! I just did a search too, and it turns out that fastenal is only 2 miles away!

I won't kiss you, but this just made my project a lot more do-able (covertly) 8).

Is the place similar to a home depot, where a teen can walk around and shop, and pay in cash?

The one near me isn't like Home Depot (it's a lot smaller), and since they are usually small stores, the people that work there keep an eye on you if you are younger, but I think that if you know what you want and you ask them for it, they would be more than happy to help you.

Thanks. On google maps (search "fastenal 19380" -it's letter A) it appears to be 3/4 the size of home depot. I hope its a store and not a warehouse.

Hailfire mine looks fairly large too. There is another page that lists the warehouses Most of them are only in the main or central cities in a state. I don't think you'll have a problem. Also if anyone knows of another site or store where I can find a Qevs much like the ones on the Fastenal page please tell!!

The one near my house is significantly smaller than most retail stores, and is too small to stock PCV. However, there is a much larger store in North Austin that does stock PVC. But I can still go to the closer store and they will order you stuff that they don't stock.

But, yeah, it's like a regular store, unlike anything else I checked out that day (all wholesale shops, felt kinda awkward going into them).
