wow, im amazed to be the first to say it but, ICE. Cut a piece of the same size pipe, tape over one end, fill with water, freeze, use running hot water to remove from tube, put in cooler, bring out to a safe fireing spot, load, and put a hole in a tree (and the ammo magically dissapears in a matter of minutes soo no clean-up afterward.

Ice slugs do work well. Let me rephrase/add on to your instructions, if I may:

Cut a piece of pipe the same size as your barrel, 3-4" long.
Seal off one end with a temporary cap (hardware store) or duct tape, etc... but make it reasonably watertight.
If you grease the inside of the pipe with cooking spray, WD40, etc... before you fill it, the ice slugs will come out of the mold much easier.
Fill it up 3/4 of the way with water, and put it in the freezer, upright, for a few hours (til it's solid).
If you grease the molds first, the slugs should come out reasonably easily, just let them thaw for about 10 minutes first and they should slide right out. If not, as Peter said, run some warm water over them for a few seconds.
If they melt too much, you'll need a bit of wadding behind it in the barrel, but no big deal.

This method also works with bondo and pycrete. Pycrete makes AWESOME, cheap ammo, just takes a bit of work....

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Ice is fun to shoot, on the ice day around here i knew that there were gonna be huge iceicles, so i kept my cannons inside for the night, then i went hunting for iceicles, which wasnt hard. then i shot them at huge chunks of ice that i salvaged from my truck. And then i shot iceicles at my trashcan, they shattered on impact, it was amaizing. BTW my cannons were wrapped in towels while outdoors.

But yeah, do the ice slugs, they are fun.

I meant if there happened to be a cherry tree nearby to use them. I said not to buy them because it is a waste of money if you have to buy them.
(Me and my friends use them with slingshots and call it redneck paintball, it's quite fun, but the pit makes them sting a lot)

What's the name of the material someone on the forums created (BLB?) that was like pykrete, but it had a bunch of iron bits in it to increase the density.

(Just a side thought, why haven't people made Pykrete backstops? They have an amazing stopping ability. Add in some metal scraps into the mix, and it'd stop most everything.)
