I had an idea of making ice ammo for my 1.5" barrel. Just take a 2-4 inch piece of whatever size barrel you have, glue it to a small piece of board fill it with water and put it in the freezer...Ice slug!...also if you wanted to, you could use fittings to make a more accurate slug, like using a 1.5" cap for the bottom followed by the 1.5" X 4" piece of barrel followed by a 1.5" male adapter followed by a 1.5" female cap on top, for a bullet looking like slug...Just an idea... could also be used for anything else you want to pour into it to mold, like hot glue or wax...just add cooking spray so it can easily be taken out.

Yea that sounds pretty logical, but i would definately make it pycrete.
Ice slug = break on impact
Pycrete slug = wont break on impact

Pycrete is more ummmm........ held together compared to just plain ice.

I just thought since the winter season is here that this would be perfect ammo. What's pycrete?

it is a mix of water and sawdust. 14% of that mixture is sawdust. the rest of the 86% is water. Then you freeze it. its very interesting because is so durable and its much harder than plain ice. It also melts at a much slower rate. The wood just gives it more strength.

they do a crapload of damage. and, theyre biodegradable!!!!!!

i used to launch them out of my first ballvalve pneumatic before the cannon broke because i was using it in too cold of weather (wont make that mistake again... thank god it wanst presusrized)

in fact, i impailed a few snowmen with ice. pretty fun.........

Actually, its me who made you think about ice to come up in the other thread where I suggested to fill up pingpongballs with water and put em in the freezer

But yes, it is a nice idea HOWEVER ice increases in size relavtivly to the water as it freezes.
Your mold may break out and the slug may be too large in diameter to fit in your barrel.

We have been though this way too many times. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel, search next time.

that pykrete seems pretty cool, but i would imagine it do be pretty nasty to make. . . . mixing sawdust into water then freezing, lol

Its really shouldnt be that messy cwazy, just put it in the blender until it turns into a pulp, then freeze. I can see where benstern is coming from because this stuff has been talked about alot tand there is no need to repeat it. Its just hard to look around, but you will find it. and maniac im pretty sure its spelled shrapnel, not to criticize or anything.
