I'm planing on building a pump-action paintball gun, because I'm buying a woodworking lathe this weekend and I need a spring-break project. My question is can Acrylic pipe hold up to CO2 or HPA? (I'm getting attracted to clear pumps 8). Also what pressure can it withstand? I'm done some looking on McMasters and found part #8532K17 which says "Tensile Strength 9600 psi" is this it's bursting pressure or working pressure? Also what would be an appropriate sealing/hammer/bolt material for this design?

Tensile stength is at which force could a material be pulled apart. That's definitely not its pressure rating.

In all honesty, I wouldn't use scrylic or PVC for what you want to use it for -- acrylic piping may be able to withstand some pressure, but since it's not pressure rated, who knows.

ok thanks, I'll probably stick with copper. And anyone know what materials to use for the sealing faces, hammer, and bolt?

Neoprene is a good sealing face, hammer and bolts... Well, not sure. I've never made a pump, but I'd imagine steel for the bolt would be okay.

I thought the bolt was light and the hammer was heavy(er)

Again, I dunno, I never built a gun with a hammer or bolt.
