i wouldnt trust a bigg bottle, because they can explode from a mix of chemicals in them producing a gas hydrogen as such from caustic soda and aluminium, but i dont no what that pressure is at that is produced.

Yeah, a glass chamber probably isn't a very good idea. But it does show up in X-rays.

Just use a pop bottle, safer and proven to work.

would be interesting to find the rating of some glass bottles, personally I think the Crown Royal bottle would look nice :D (you can make a whole line of them, from there mini's to there mixers...which i think is 1gal..or around there. ) (which would be rightious) I would feel okay pumpin it up with it encased in something hard & sturdy.

yeah if you think about it they still sell coke in bottles at some places and you know they have to be at least somewhat pressure rated to hold a carbonated drink. personally i would still stick to plastic bottles but a glass chamber for a gun would be pretty sick.

found this site : http://amos.indiana.edu/library/scripts/champagne.html
says that champagne bottles is under 70-90psi, but thats filled with liquid, dosent that mean that they can hold more psi without fluid? or Is my logic backwards...not quite sure. :?:
Maybe champagne bottles is the way to go : http://www.texaswinetrails.com/bottles.htm states that "The thick walls, long neck and large punt are required to withstand the higher pressures (up to 90 psi) found with Champagne."

I'm pretty shure that bottle can handle the presure.I'll put a layer of plastic from a coke bottle around it.The bottom is the most vonrable plase so it will be like a safety valve.

I agree the bottom is most likely to blow off first, but plastic from a coke bottle? I wouldnt feel safe with that, I would get some 3'' or 4'' sch 80 PVC and a cap to match, glue cap to pipe then bore the size of your barrel out of the cap, then glue it to the barrel. and leave the end open if you want, it will look like a PVC chamber from the side

a agree about it being a good idea with the safety issue but then if you cover it with pvc then why even bother making a glass chamber? unless there is an advantage to using glass i dont know about.

no, no advantages using glass, just good looks. maybe Rambo can encase it then pump it up around 60psi and if nothing happens, take it off,

If it can hold the pressure or not is not the issue. It's the sudden increase in pressure that could break it. Glass is not elastic like PVC or PET, it cannot dampen the shock. Fast-burning fuels are particularly dangerous in this application.

I think that a Champagne bottle could withstand a high amount of stress, even sudden shock, but just in case, i would encase it with a plexiglass box or something. Plexiglas.........hmmmmmmm... that gives me ideas!

My uncle works for the soda company Clearly Canadian and he said all the glass bottles are tested to 300psi
But I dont think they will like the shock or heat
