This is a fairly simple question, when you've been doing something mildly
dangerous, do you get that instinct which tells you that your current
activity will end in pain.

Seems an odd question, but I've had it happen several times.

So do you think I'm deluded, or have you had the same thing?

Good to see I'm not that insane.

I guess I should say that I had it when I inhaled through my 14mm blowdart
gun with a 20g dart, end result: broken tooth, same as with a
3mm bb almost through my index finger, in the process of piercing my
finger, the entry wound was rendered into a volcano. That was the day I joined
Spudfiles.

YES! I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a chipped tooth through utter stupidity... years ago I had a length of PVC and was attempting to use suction to pick up a marble slightly too large for the pipe... out of a container of smaller marbles which fit perfectly. Don't ask why, it was one of those 'I wonder if this will work' moments.

It was so stupid of me that it's embarrassing... just a moment of not thinking and THWACK! I get hit in the mouth with a marble... it's NOT a fun feeling to be able to feel a sandy sort of gritty feeling, spitting out the marble and seeing that it is fine

All good now... it only nicked my two front teeth as it went past, knocking a little chip out of the cornerr of each. Had the dentist fix it the next day

We all have those moments. I refer to mine as Oh- Cr*p moments.

I get that every time I fire my hybrid or touch anything that is ever at around +/-20V. Especially when the mixing sucks and I have to go near it and bleed a little air out the chamber. I managed to shoot myself with a golf ball this way (ricochet off a steel plate, but still)

I have a similar feeling whenever someone goes to touch/hit me me not that way, sicko!. I guess I need to be more trusting. or increase the safety factor.

I had that feeling when I took the ABS Cellular Core Cannon over 50 PSI the first time, then again at 65, then 85, and this year 100 PSI. I expected it to blow up each time. It is entirely non pressure rated DWV pipe.

I've got a SCH 40 steel hybrid sitting around, but I'm somewhat
concerned about what type of ignition gland I want to install.

I have the thought that the ignition gland will become a projectile of
it's own. But I'm very glad that I've got 120 acres in my backyard
as a range.

I've decided that I'll use epoxy not for it's strength, but JSR's
testing of it has made me somewhat confident in binary adhesives.

I had one of those "gut feeling moments" a while ago that was more like an "Uh-oh That won't work" moment. It must have seemed like a good idea for my friend to place his hand over the end of the barrel on a ball valve cannon... with a projectile wedged in the ball valve. It let loose, and he was in the hospital on IV antibiotics, wondering if he was going to lose his hand.

Now: Very careful with pointing spudguns of all types downrange only. Friend doesn't even have a scar.

The instant when you realize "this is going to end badly". Been there.

20 yards from a barb wire fence going 30 miles an hour on the snowmobile only to discover that not only do you have no where to turn...but the brakes aren't working.

Fortunately, I hit on the side of the posts opposite from the staples, the fence was old, and the wire didn't break. Pulled the staples out of NINE posts...all four strands worth. Left me lying on the ground doing "the guppy thing" (Gasping for air with the wind knocked out of me...face shield covered in snot....good times. )

A past involving motorcycles, snowmobiles and a variety of "other" powered tools/toys leaves one with a host of such "incidents".

Still remember going over the edge of a drainage ditch while riding a "Rapid Flyer" wagon as a kid. Landed in the rocks at the bottom.

Usually there's never more time than it takes to think "Oh SH!T..."

And really, that's the truth. I know the feeling being discussed and it ALWAYS coincides with doing something stupid. Maybe you can't quite put your finger on it, but your subconcious knows something's not right. Invariably, when you stop and really look at what you're doing you've got a chance at finding the mistake before the mistake finds you.
