Damn, another person with a Nagant. Wish I had a place to shoot one, would buy one in a heart beat (even more so now that I've watched Stalingrad*)
*and am hoping to watch Talvisota next week which is sure to have its fair share of Nagants on both sides.

I was thoroughly amused by the Mosin. Every part of the weapons drips with crude communist engineering (oh and cosmoline). I couldn't help but buy it.

As almost normal, blade is silversteel, handle is dark walnut and reindeers hide, bolsters are 5mm brass

Nice looking knife, what do you use to heat treat them? Do you have a belt grinder?
That is all.

Damn, hope you get all the girls making blades like that
How long does a knife like that take to make? You could make a fair bit if you set up a small website selling traditional Finnish knives. You could probably setup a YouTube channel with a few videos showing the process, heaps of people are interested in knives.

I heat treat these babys at my forge, and temper them too whit it. The most used machine making these is the belt sander
This goes for 80€.
And yes, i have thought a webside, but the finnish laws are so stupid that after iv made certain amount of money i need to start pay taxes from these :/
This is just a basic puukko, took little under 5 hours to make, and 2hours go for the shieth

hey guys, havent posted in a while but i have decided to try and make a knife out of an old file and thought i would ask for advice here.
what would be the best temperature to anneal it at? i have access to an electronic furnace so it wont be hard to get it to the right temp, also after making the knife what is the best way to temper the metal again?
cheers

Well, for annealing i use the same temperature as in heat treating, so about 800celsius, and for tempering about 220c and about few hours
