This is pretty funny. I just finished my new bed for my Gingery lathe. I've made one in the past but about two months ago my lathe was packed up and sent to my brother who had his stolen (along with 60 other tools). This and other parts will allow him to continue his job, I do machining but mine is a hobby (even though I'm better than him :) ). Well, my wife and my mother got together and bought me a nice little micro lathe. My father-in-law dropped a $250 gift certificate for Home Depot in my lap and my other brothers got together and bought me 2 bags of refractory and a bunch of aluminum bar stock (good karma I guess).

Now, with this amazing birthday past I'm definetly going to continue my Gingery Lathe (they are powerful and versatile little machines) what should I make? Not spud related because I have a ton of idead there but what else?

I'm at a complete loss.

Make a .177cal airgun. First get a Chinese cheep-o airgun and copy it, do that ten times and sell them. Make small differences so as not to be sued for copyright infringement. There’s your get rich quick scheme for the year. Oh and happy birthday. And thanksgiving…oh and well I’m at merry Christmas and, HAPY NEW YEAR!

yeah I’m bored.

Little spud gun replica key rings...I was making one is my schools metal engineering workshop and my teacher busted my ass for it and thew it in the bin.
But nice birthday.I have always wanted to make little steam engines and that definitely capable of machining parts for that.

Yea, steamengines are pretty cool. I see them on ebay for around $400.00 dollars or so. You could make little signal cannons. I can see where your at a loss on what to make. Look at what you have laying around your shop, that should get your mind wondering. Happy birthday!

Well, I cast and have made a steady and a follow rest for my lathe (similar designs) as well as a pipe head live center. I've begun work on a set of chess pieces for my father-in-law (Christmas is coming). It will work out well as I have a largish bit of scap copper and granite to make the board out of as well.
