So whats wrong with needing a hammer. It shows that the sockets are a tight fit and will help with making strong joints.

In fact, the exact cause of that is because the parts are annealed (cooled at a higher temperature for a longer duration). Or the pipe you are using is extruded slower resulting in a better quality part. If I can, I usually check fittings to see if they are tight, if they are loose I send them back or return them.
