Hey, im looking into making my own pnumatic gun and was wondering what sort of tools wood i need, would i need to weld?

Im guessing, a drill, screw drivers for tightening clips or wrenches.

and to build it , from what i have reseaerched it seems to be the basic idea of

gas chamber, blow gun , pvc / copper pipe is this correct or would i need some sort of valve somewer or will the blow gun act as one? Thanks.

In essence I guess you could use the blowgun AS the valve, but it'd make for crappy performance. You would definitely want to add a valve of some sort and utilize the blowgun for the exhaust (trigger). -Lp

So i would have the chamber where i will pump air into, then a ball valve to isolate the air, then when ready i open the valve and pull the triger?

You need to research more, man. Read around this site (the How-To section especially) and the Wiki (link at the top of every page...).

You probably don't need to weld unless you want to build a galvanized steel cannon, and even then, you could probably use threaded fittings.

Most of us build our guns from plastic pipe, ABS is preferred for combustion guns, NSF-PW PVC is preferred for pneumatics. The technique for joining these pipes is called solvent welding. It uses chemicals to bond the pipe. Not very difficult to do. The How-To section includes a GREAT lesson on solvent welding, I'd highly recommend you read it before building your gun.

If you want to use metal, that's different. Copper you solder or "sweat". Steel, iron, or brass, you can get with threaded fittings.

You will need a valve. The blowgun is usually used to trigger the valve (see modified sprinkler valves).

Research more. We'll be happy to help you, but you need to get the basics down first.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

Thanks, after looking a bit more i found these plans

Image

i get how it works, the air is pumped into the bike valve which is one way ... then i think the aim is to open the 1st ball valve to let air enter the small pvc pipe then close it to isolate it and then when the next ball valve is opened it fires?
