To the Mods: This is not total off-topic, there is a point behind it... you'll have to wait to find out what though.

In the UK, there is a radio show known as "Desert Island Discs", where people of varying degrees of fame go on, and list the 8 musical tracks that were they stuck on a Desert Island, they would want with them - essentially, their favourite 8 tracks.
They also list a book and a "luxury" they'd want with them, but that's not the important thing here.

Now, I have a bit of a theory about the music people listen to, and I need a little information to develop it.
It's not in anyway a test of your particular character, I guarantee that if I told you my theory, you'd not be offended to be involved in the test - but I can't tell you what I'm testing until I have a few answers, else the results will be meaningless.

8 tracks is a bit tight, so to allow you a bit more freedom, what I would like is a list of your 12 (twelve) favourite music tracks, in no particular order - making sure you list the artist/band with each.
Ideally, these won't be tracks currently or recently on the charts, but if you really want, you're allowed the choice. You're allowed to have the same choices as someone else, but don't copy unless you honestly believe it would be in your favourites.

To start off, here are mine, sorted into alphabetical order by artist (no need for you to do that, it just removes any suggestion at order of preference)

Boston – More than a feeling
Dire Straits – Sultans of Swing (live, Alchemy)
Dire Straits – Tunnel of Love
Eagles – Hotel California
Eric Johnson – Cliffs of Dover (live, House of Blues)
Iron Maiden – Can I play with Madness
Joe Satriani – Crushing Day
Led Zeppelin – Stairway to heaven
Meat Loaf – Monstro/Alive
Pink Floyd – Wish you were here.
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
U2 – Where the streets have no name

There are a few other things I would like, and I had to make a few tough decisions - but those 12 are definitely all at least in my top 20.

So, those are mine - which do fit with my theory, unsurprisingly - so, what about yours?
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I think no matter how great your selection is, you'd tire of them very rapidly - it's human nature. If people weren't genetically programmed to be so easily bored, we'd still be living in caves

I personally never list my favourite tracks, rather qualifying them as my favourite tracks "at the moment".

Actually, those tracks do make up a very significant proportion of my music playing time.
One of the tracks mentioned has over 500 plays on my media player, one nearly 400, another two are around 300 and the majority of the others are above 200.

I don't tend to bore of a really good track, no matter how often I hear it - and those are all very good tracks in my opinion.

Oh man....music being one of my passions and part of my money making avenues....plus my 50 years of life, is going to make this particular activity almost moot. The best I'll be able do with this is throw out some tunes that were favorites or influental during random eras. I could literally pick 100s of sets of 8 that I equally couldn't "live without"

I'll think about it and post again in a bit.

I think I see where this is going, but I could be completely wrong.
There are a lot of "professional" band tracks that I like, like from Radiohead, The Fray, ect., but I don't know the names of most of the songs.

Here are some free music I sometimes listen to while on spudfiles. Good for potato carnage videos.

Evil Dog - The Last Stand
Evil Dog - TheQuestOfYourLife
Metalcan - Desert Rose
ZENON - Tremor
Nostrap - In a Trance Redux

EDIT: Whoops, didn't read the "12 songs" part. Ahh, I'm too lazy, (adding Urls takes time) if I messed something up Rag just ignore this post.

OK here's my list, fairly carefully selected and within the scope of "stuck on a desert island". I haven't played some of these in years and only 2 or 3 appear on any of my present personal or gig playlists, also in alpha order...

Autograph - Turn Up The Radio
Alan Parsons Project - To One in Paradise
Bachman Turner Overdrive - You Aint Seen Nothing Yet
Cornelius Brothers - Too Late to Turn Back Now
Def Leppard - Promises
Fleetwood Mac - Bleed to Love Her
Late Night Alumni - Empty streets
Lindsey Buckingham - Soul Drifter
Mama Cass - Make Your Own kind of Music
Peter Luts - What A Feeling
Psychedelic Furs - The Ghost in You
Van Halen - Jump

Some top 40 radio stuff we all know, some other more eclectic. This better be good Rag.....
