On the home page in the statistics block it says that the most users online ever was 126 we have over 7,000 registered users, I think we can break the record. What would be a good date to attempt? any thoughts?

We may have 7000 members, but half have probably never made a post, half of those probably have less than 10 posts, half of those probably haven't been here in a year, and half of those probably don't even frequent the site.
So you're left with a couple hundred, not going to happen sorry. You try convincing several hundred people to all come online at the same time.
You probably wont even get the required members needed, in page views for this topic alone. And most of those page views will be duplicates.

Just been busy and stuff haha, plus it's winter so I haven't done much in terms of spudding.

I'm guessing 30 to 40 active posters at the most. Active posters being at least 1 post per week. 10 to 15 very active posters (posting daily) at best.
I think the counters are wrong, some kind of glitch.
Today for the very 1st time when I got here there where no registered users at all, and I've been a member for all most 4 years now. Time flys...

Never, to be honest. It's a statistic that doesn't mean much - I don't get why people seem to think it's important. Peaks are usually related to high guest, not high member traffic - so related to a story in the news, a search engine spider crawl...
Anyway, the reason I say it's not worth it is that the forum tends to crash if too many people are on it - less bad than it has been, but a going for a record is unlikely to succeed, and will probably just lock out the forum for a few hours.
Also like MrC says (welcome back BTW), those aren't 7000 active users. There are over 4000 users with no posts to their name - over half our members have never made a contribution - and only just over 5% of our members have more than 100 posts.

There was something similar to this attempted for the New Year not too long ago. I think PCGUY eventually chimed in and said that it couldn't happen with that many members. Something about the server couldn't support that many now.
I do know that on some occasion, I go to log into this site and and tells me the server is too busy, telling me only 53 people (including guests) are online.
That topic mentioned is somewhere here. If you are interested, just search for it.
Good enthusiasm, though.

Oh c'mon crowley for god sakes I looked it up 60 degrees in the winter, that's spudding weather. Gippeto was out shooting in the Canadian winter.
But on topic I'm pretty sure the record happened when one of our creations made MAKE.

The answer is don't ask. Those who know won't tell, and it's likely to start speculation and will just get locked or deleted.

DYI turned himself inside out and still can't type in reverse to create a readable post. As soon as he learns how he will be back and posting in no time.
