Lab manager at your age, well done mate. I'n only 12 years off it too, with the way things are going down here, I'll be in the same position.
:D :D :D

I've known that sort of girl, and straightened out one like it. Marriage is something which would take an incredible amount of convincing to rope me into, and the girl I'm seeing now is already starting on it. Of course she's Catholic.

Good luck with that ;)

Roy has a bunch, all completely legal. He dates the girls, but has never let one talk him onto marriage. As a result, he has money for his hobby.

As I told a guy that said, "Wow! What a great collection!"

"Yep, that's the wedding that he never had."

That's my exact thinking, my money is my money, f*cked if some girl is intending to tell me what to do with it. A mate of mine had a decent collection of rifles, a few damn nice motorbikes, then the one pussy to rule them all came in, sold his bikes cheap, got rid of his guns, and he's selling his other house so she can get a new car.

So I got him back into guns, and sold him my bike, hopefully that'll give him a reason to use his balls.

You have to love the box 'o' truth

Something totally different as always :D

YAYY im able to reach welding temperatures after some tweaking with my gas forge :D

Tried a small billet of damascus yesterday which failed because of too gentle hammering and too little borax. New, bigger billet at Friday. This time 70mm long and has 10 layers.

Thinking of making 320 layer, 12-15cm long blade with ladder pattern

I sure most guys have encountered at least one "Cameleon" type woman. While out in public, they seem to be as sane and reasonable as any person could be. When the door closes behind them and there are no witnesses, their head spins like "Regan MacNeil" and they become violent and bat shite crazy! Their lesser size and power does not deter them from their violently aggression. As they experience a momentary lapse into sanity, they all seem to use the standard line, "Who do you think the court will believe....you or me?" They know they are a protected species! Be careful, Mr C. Chances are great that you'll encounter at least one in your lifetime. Your first encounter will leave you speechless!!!

She was quite easy to mentally break tough, after I decided it was time for some payback

Still treats me as if I was Satan himself :D

Sounds like an ex of mine too

I know girls who seem like far more rational people that don't like to argue and are generally much nicer people. Have I been in a relationship with a girl like that before? No... but I have hope :D

A problem with nice girls is that you do feel sympathy when you do things like blast metal music through the car stereo at deafening levels. I feel less guilty when the girl is more of a b|tch and you just think to yourself that they can deal with it. Dunno if a nice girl can take that kind of abuse

That being said, a relationship to me is like a marriage to you guys: expensive!
Assumption, not fact
Yeah, but in the conversations we're having we gotta judge an argument by the likelihood of the premise to save time. If I want to establish a claim as fact in one of my arguments, I'm going to need to do a literature review and frankly I don't have the time for that and you wont be able to check the references anyway :P

If you think that was a one-off, you're in for a bit of a rude shock.

You know how after some time they complain that you've changed? Aside from the fact that they've spent the whole time trying to change you, you're still the same bloke. Was has changed has their attitude towards you. That's the thing about women, the exact same joke can either fall flat or induce tears of laughter depending when you tell it to them. Why anyone would want to give the time of day to these psychotic children is beyond me.

Oh... right.

I doubt you would actually find a girl like that attractive, and even if you did and got with her, watch the dynamics change.

Am I being too grim and cynical? Perhaps. But again, it would be interesting to see your outlook a couple of relationships and work experiences down the line ;)

Sympathy... heh

I am almost 100% sure I would not have had the lathe and mill had I actually got married.

Fair enough, likewise it's useless verifying sources here when it's clear we are coming from different life experiences and won't see eye to eye.

Still, that was a good couple of rants, cheers :D

I'll top it off with another Daily Mail link close to home: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... nment.html
Two male runners who also received serious burns and required skin grafts will not receive compensation as their circumstances were not as ‘extraordinary’, it was decided.

Marriage Expensive??
QUESTION:
What's the difference between a "Lady of Commerce" and a Wife?

Answer:
You pay a "Lady of Commerce" one time to leave.
You pay a Wife forever to stay.

Ladies of commerce don't make sandwiches though. And the current gf works at Kentucky Fried Colonel, so guess who gets free chicken.

And JSR, that was a "we weren't wrong, but here's some money so you don't sue us" payment, she was looking to sue, they shut her up.

If only we could return to the days of personal responsibility, when people were actually accountable for their own actions. I'm sorry to emphasise the gender point, but I see this as part of the femminisation of society. Compare and contrast with a family analogy:
"Daddy, I fell on the playground and hurt my knee!"

Image

"Run it off, it will pass"
versus
"Mommy, I fell on the playground and hurt my knee!"

Image

"Oh, poor dear! Here, have an icecream to make you feel better!" *hug*
Considering the rise of compensation culture, you tell me what sort of attitude prevails in government.
For some reason I thought of this...

Maybe it's for people for whom English isn't a first language, as opposed to those thicker than two short planks?

True, but Wikipedia comes in 285 different languages and doesn't seem like the best way to learn a language. Maybe it really has more emphasis towards kids than I originally thought (it included students as part of its demographic), one tends to forget the age at which kids get computers and ipads these days.
