Remote Control Paintball Gun

Lately Ive been designing a remote control paintball gun. The idea is to take a paintball gun and mount it to three servos, up and down, left to right, and fire. Its just a basic, semi auto CO2 paintball gun. The mechanics should be fairly simple, a base with a webcam, and three servos. The only problem is controlling it. Ive seen versions with arduino and versions that use micro controllers. Which would be easier for someone who has never programmed before. I plan to control it with my lap top.

It's not that you have to program anything at all... you just download the code and upload it to arduino

Thanks, I didn't realize that software has a manual mode. Did you ever get your sentry gun working?

Tracking and motion was fine, it was the gun I was never happy with. Project is still on the table though :)

I suggest youread through the thread, plenty of ideas, links and advice.

When ever I want to control anything from a distance I rip the guts out of rc car with the appropriate amount of servos. Its already programmed and usually cheap. Then remount everything to do whatever u want. The camera can be a cctv button eye (cheap ebay spy cam). Plug the receiver into anything that will take the signal. U can even get a handheld monitor/receiver pretty cheap (ebay).

lol ppl why RC servos ?? sure they are ok for rc cars and planes but they are NOT accurate enough for guns... well unless your max range is ~15meters or so

Isn't ~15 meters really about the effective range of most paint ball guns? ( :D )

If the servos aren't accurate enough that just suggests that you need a gear train between the servo and the gun mount. That would also increase the torque.
