Sweet! I think I had seen a video before. Kudos to the guy to exceeding his kickstarter goal.

a quadrotor is essentially motors and props - the rest is just some electronics, battery and structure to keep it all together

it seems the ideal configuration for a flying gun is a tricopter

Yep... but I think as technology gets smaller and smaller, a quadcopter version of this will be the future.

A swarm of tiny quadcopters each carrying 10 grams of HE would be a terrifying weapon to defend against, even a single one could find a route to sneak up on an unsuspecting enemy combatant and riddle him with high velocity shrapnel before he knew what hit him.

I bought my first RC plane - it's essentually a direct clone of bixler 2

it's called Pioneer 1400 here in europe but it's the same - all the dimenshions, specs etc are the same. Already crashed it like 10 times or so :D but I learned a lot in the process

This thing is durable like hell so I guess it's ideal for noobs like me. Fuselage (made of styro) can be fixed with a bit of glue. The only part that has failed so far was a prop

heh sure it does - polish engineering FTW :D

People suggest taping the parts that usually get damaged - I added the tape after the first flight and even though it crashed horribly the fuselage is in pretty good shape - nothing you couldn't fix with a bit of super glue and tape

I don't really expect the fuselage to last long given my piloting skills ATM but I am sure I'll learn a lot - more than I could using an RC simulator for example

the fuselage itself is fairly cheap, what is expensive is RC equipment and all the parts.
Knowledge I'll gain destroying this plane is well worth the price :)

Polish engineering (and manufacturing) is actually quite top notch in the firearms world. I have several collectibles which are considered to be some of the highest quality of their kind. :) So yeah, awesome!

Anyway, back on topic -- my grandfather was absolutely huge into RC airplanes. Had over 60. Had a room in his factory dedicated to the storage of them (not a huge display room or anything, just like a large closet). But he started to get into jet turbines before he passed, and had a ducted fan like what JSR posted. Was fun stuff, even though I destroyed one. :(

Even if you destroy the structure completely, as long as you keep the fittings intact you can very easily cut yourself a new airframe out of foam board.

That's a very nice design. It vaguely reminds me of a P-61 Black Widow.

By far one of the most beautiful aircraft ever made.

Probably my all time favourite planes, just look at that...

More like my favorite airframe ever
the undeniably beautiful A-10

How can you argue with an aircraft that
"The A-10 was designed around the GAU-8 Avenger, a rotary cannon that is the airplane's primary armament and the heaviest such cannon mounted on an aircraft. "

The sole purpose of the airframe was to mount the heaviest autocannon ever put in the sky.

BTW, would someone please tell me it's OK to be in love with this

Not "conventionally attractive" as they say but f***ing awesome, this says it all:

Basically a gun with engines and wings strapped on.

Yup, even heavier than the semi-auto 75mm gun on the Hs 129!

Bit pricey for such a tiny thing.
