Lothar Walther only sell their smaller caliber airgun blanks in 23.8" lengths. I emailed them, and they said that longer barrels usually have a minimum order of 10. I don't really know how this should work, but I was thinking if there were 10 people interested in a longish barrel for whatever project, we could order 10...

It's kind of a long shot I know, and I'm not sure how the money and stuff will work, but for now I'm just curious if anyone would be interested in this anyway.

Well yeah... But that's still pretty short. Plus, it's got it's own attachment stuff that I wouldn't be able to use (well actually idk, but I assume each gun has its own attachement method). I could try just getting 5.5 mm stuff from mcmaster or whatever, but last time I did that it was the wrong size and wouldn't fit.

I mean, I have an old Red Ryder I could scavenge the barrel from, except I don't know how much pressure that can take, and it's really short...

I don't want to spend a bunch of time on a hybrid that I'm just gonna make inefficient ith a short barrel.

You'll find a way to adapt it, especially if it's got a set screw attachment.

What jsr should have said but he didn't is that you don't need long barrels for typical airguns

(here jsr posts pics of an airgun pistol with a crooked barrel and says that for accuracy only ze last inch or so is required)

If he wants a high performance hybrid, the longer the barrel the better. A 24 inch 0.22" barrel with a decent chamber and 20-25x behind it should give rimfire performance.

What I mean is, both the lothar and the crosman barrels are too short, I had emailed lothar and they said for [barrels longer than 23.8"] the minimum order was 10.

And this isn't a typical airgun, I'm making something very similar to the TBMA but .22 caliber and at much higher mixes.

It sounds like this isn't going to happen anyway... Oh well.

As above, a two foot barrel is more than enough for impressive power using a high mix.

Well I guess I'll be content with rifle power

Edit, I think that came out the wrong way... I mean, rifle power is really strong, so it's a bit silly that I want more.

It depends what you want from it. If you live in the US, you can get a 22 plinker for very little cash. Since you're building your own, making the direct equivalent of a firearm does sound like a waste of time and resources unless there was no way you could get the equivalent firearm.

Yeah I live in the US (and NH where there aren't many laws) and I guess I could get a rifle for like $250... But that's not NEARLY as cool as making one. Also, if I made one then I wouldnt have to worry about licenses or registrations, and a suppressor would be more illegal on a real rifle...

Suppressors are legal if you state allows them. Just buy the stupid $250 tax stamp, send in your design and build your own after they send you your stamp.

Have you considered barrel liner? These would likely need to be sleeved into larger steel tubing and epoxied/loctited into place. Have bought 24" lengths only, you would need to enquire about longer pieces.

These are hammer forged and good quality.

As much as I wish that were true, it really isn't. If it can be silence a firearm a single dB, it's subject to the full force of the law (even if you don't own a firearm to put it on) It may be easier to fly under the radar of the law with an airgun, but it's still illegal.
