ok, the only stump remover at my local hardware store is "bonide stum..."
There is no indication of what it's made out of, and I was wondering if you guys have used this as potassium nitrate?
I already have checked google with no luck.
-thanks
p.s does anyone know where I can get sulfer from? (drugstore, hardware store, ect)

Buy some, take it out, powder it, and burn it. If it's any good, use it anyway. It probably is, you need to experiment.

No.
Bonide stump remover is, IIRC, sodium pyrosulfite.
Fairly boring stuff, as far as I can tell.
...although, from reading the directions, it sounds more effective than the nitrate stuff...

hmm...Grants stump remover found at homedepot is the kno3 you want and you can get sulfer at lowes hardeware in the gardening department. and it you do get grants its best to disolve it down in water then recrystalize it in a aluminum pan over low outdoor heat for purer kno3 due to a coating they put on the pellets but its so much easier to just get it of ebay. Becasue its all ready in a sealed moisturless environment makeing no clumping.
Just out of curiousity how do plastic cannons and kno3 intervine? unless you plan on makieing a smoke charge to launch or make bp with the kno3 to power a bp cannon.

A black powder powered PVC cannon?
*Fire in the hole!*
I think its in the off topic bit just for checking suppliers so he can make black powder at all.

Yes that he can but charcoal from that is no where near as good as scourched wood. I believe its hard wood makes ash (tons of it) and soft wood makes charcoal.

no CVS would get you salt peter just don't call it potassium nitrate. Calling it potassium nitrate just makes it seem more like a chemical. It is also use for medicinal purposes so they would probably order it for you. If they have any questions just say its for a school project. Just ask the pharamacy for it. But is it true that home depot really sells sulfur and does anyone know if it would be good enough to use for bp?
