Is it possible to make homemade hand pump that can goes up to 800psi?

Yes it is. But it wouldn't be something i would want to make.
The volume of air you could expel would be extremely limited.
Have a look at Ragnaroks HEAL cannon in the pneumo showcase, he has made a pump that goes to 320psi or higher.

Most methods of getting pressure that high in homemade systems (i.e. gas rams or low volume pumps) produce a very low volume of gas. Just use unregulated CO2 unless this is for something as small as a pellet gun.

It is much easier than you would think. The old Girandoni gun from hundreds of years ago used a simple stirrup pump. The key is a long pump with a very narrow bore that you can bounce your weight against to force more air into it. They usually used two pumps for this. One of a higher volume and then switched to the slimmer pump for topping up the cylinder when the pumping got harder.
BTB made one that he suffered an accident with that was around 1000 psi when the check valve popped and shot the handle into his face.
If you are going to go past 500 psi you have to start thinking of a way to get multiple shots from it though.

you might try using this 'compressor' - http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/several ... rt,15.html

I can get 300psi and more with this - well it's not 800 but at least you don't have to use your own muscles

Or you could use this brilliant idea for a pneumatic rod that was just posted as a topic and the approved in theory by JSR

here ya go :D

I believe I mentioned that. That absurdly large size of pneumatic ram that you would need to generate a decent volume of compressed gas makes it impractical for all but small launchers. Although if you want 1000+ psi output from a crappy bike pump, that's the way to go.

yes you could, just use a tube about 1/16'' diameter... ( I.E. its not practical)

With a tube 1/16" in diameter you could pump up to 5000 psi effortlessly, and well over 15000 psi with a bit of work. Might take weeks though...

Why would it take so long? Reduce the chamber size you are pumping into. It wouldn't take that small a pump cylinder size either. A 20 inch x 3/4 copper pump reaches 350 with little effort. A thick walled half inch copper pump would be good for quite a bit more. It wouldn't be too hard to have a very high pressure pump made by someone with access to a lathe.
On Barnes Pneumatic, the owner made a pump that went to 800 psi.

With a pump chamber .5" in diameter, it would take slightly over 150 pounds of force to push down the handle at 800 psi. Certainly doable, but once again it would only be good for relatively low volumes.

I've made one and nearly knocked my teeth out when it broke.
THe handle hit me in the face, two teeth were loosened, one got chipped. The inside of my upper lip was cut up pretty bad.
The gums were torn off my front teeth. They still look weird, kinda "dawn of the dead" like..
I might have broken part of my upper jaw, but if I did, It healed on it"s own.It felt wiggly for some time.
My nose still "pops"when I touch the tip of it, it didn't before.
I did how.ever reach over 900 psi.You want blueprints??

Yar please, what diameter was the pump body?
