also remember that sometimes, simpler is better. then you can work on astetics without worry..

i know thats why i dont build my own piston valves for small bore guns. i like my small bore guns to look like something id be proud to bring to an airgun range.

Just a small tidbit- Chaos is currently in America and won't be joining us for quite some time i imagine. As we all know it is proper to ask "permission" if one is to copy or utilise another spudders design. That said i hope your cannon turns out to be *the bomb*.

When you say you want to build a top of the line pneumatic, I suggest you start at something simple like this for your first build.

Most people start with something similar, basic modded sprinkler setup.
You can still shoot marbles, you'll learn a lot building it, it's best to start basic.

@Nova

Pity Choas didn't have a blog thread like I did when I went to America. :D

I'd suggest starting at a moderate level. Although you can get good power from a marble pneumatic - Chaos' S400, or my HEAL are two examples - it requires a lot of pressure to really get power out of them, and mistakes with multiple hundreds of psi are not mistakes you want to make.

If you try those pressures for an early pneumatic, odds on, you'll cock it up big time - and trust me, that's BAD.
There are few people I wouldn't be concerned about them using more than about 150 psi for a first pneumatic - and I certainly wouldn't specifically recommend more than about 100-120 to anyone.

I made all my "mistakes" under 100 psi, and I'm fine for it. If I'd made them at the pressures I use now, I wouldn't be.

So, as MrCrowley suggested, try a simple, but cheap, first build, and you can really get your teeth into a heavy-duty design on a later build - you need that low level experience.
Short circuiting the usual procedures tends to ground itself in the local emergency room (ooh, electricity puns - shocking!)

On an unrelated note:
Some say he once fired a ball bearing half a mile... and that he could break the sound barrier if he wanted to... all we know is, he’s called Ragnarok
Do you wear a white race suit and helmet when firing HEAL with a "Teach yourself Greek" tape in the background? :D

Almost, but rather than race gear, it's safety equipment more appropriate to the situation, and instrumental rock tracks are being used at the moment.

But I'm all out for trying out new models of spudguns and different types of ammo.
