well i live in quebec and i cant seem to find and PSI rated PVC, in fact the only pvc i can buy is those large irrigation pipes and those grey wire covering pipes (also i can buy small copper tube sized fittings rated at psis but cmon you cant shoot spuds with that) . the only 40mm+ pipe i can find is IPEX ABS DWV. ive already made a pneumatic with this (dont be scared none of the parts are under pressure. the pipes not even sealed)its made using the ABS DWV and uses a 2L soda bottle with a ball valve and some 200psi fiber glass reinforced tubing shoved into the bottle neck and attached to the valve with balloon necks for the seals (pretty weird but it works leak proof up to 40psi which is as high as my pump will ever get. i busted it with bottle rockets and allkinds of junk its not meant for, ill post up my cannon later its late now. anyways im wondering where i can buy PVC ive only checked at RONA so im not sure if my local home depot/reno depot has any. its all in the carrefour laval area. also can i find shrader valves at a hardware store, (the threaded kind) ive managed to rip some from some bike tubes but those arent threaded at the back.
im new here too, but ive built about 3 pneumatic guns so far. ones a spud gun like i said, the others a simple air tank ballvavle nerf gun which sucked real hard and the third is (a verry excentric machine which no one here has ever seen) a plunger powered pneumatic marble shooter, which for its shit construction fires pretty damn hard, i works with a piece of 50mm pipe as the main cylinder, with a custom wooden pump head coated in grease inside the pipe as a pump plunger. this pump rod is cocked back with 3+ bungie chords on it into a main ratchet hub actuated by the trigger for firing, ive never really put a long barrel on it but technically it needs a 4 foot barrel to reach its max power based on the plungers volume to barrels volume, which should be 1: 0.8 anyways this is all pretty useless without pics, so ill be sure to post those up soon (1 or 2 days) ive got alot too share so srry about the messyness and bad grammar/spelling.

IF u read all this thanx, but what i really want to know is obviously what this topic was about. im starting to believe PVC/ABS is very location based on where its the available DWV i'm problly wrong.

PVC is more brittle than ABS at low temperatures so ABS tends to be used more in the great cold north land. Pressure rated pipe greater than 2" will also be a challenge. They have begun to sell cellular core non-pressure rated piping at most home improvement centers.

Visit a commercial plumbing supplier, they should be able to supply pressure rated PVC or ABS in any size.

thanks, i remember how brittle PVC can get, i had a large 4" pipe in my yard out all winter and when i dropped it a foot off the ground it shattered  pressure rated ABS sounds like a miracle but i doubt its cheap, even if does exist

Pressure rated ABS does exist, but I have no idea of the price it is, maybe look it up on google or something.

actually you can shoot potatoe out of small bore copper cannons  maybe thats the best option for you?

edit: and about pressure rated ABS, its pretty easy to get here in the UK (online) but its more expensive than PVC which is annoying :(

If you've got money, you can get bigger bore copper, the biggest I have seen is 48mm.

ALIHISGREAT: Surely you realize everything is more expensive here in the UK
