new to this site piston help?
hey guys im new to this site but not to pneumatic spud guns im getting sik of using sprinklervalves as i cant aford to buy new ones every time i want to make a new gun and have heaps of little 1/4" ball valves and fittings so wanted to try piston valves, im going to make a simple copper or brass coaxial to get the drift of it all befor i move up a level. ive been trying to make some pistons but have found that solid plugs are a little too heavy and does not relese the air into my barrel very fast and was wondering if any one has ever used that sort of rubbery foam that some bodyboards are made from as its quite strond and very light weight , if anyone has any experience in these please tell me cheers

Make one from hot glue, (melt glue sticks, pure into paper cup). Use a end cap, (pvc sch40). I made mine out of wood, but don't recommend it, (it's breaking apart inside my valve chamber). Use a old airisol can. Use your imagination and suprize use with the next great idea. lol

Aerosol cans do work rather well,but only for a short time as I found out.They bend from the impact and forces involved but they are VERY light.
As to the foam that the Body Boards are made from give it a go is the best option.Although I have used one as a target with my marble guns and they do puncture it quite easily.There is an notable upside to the idea though,no bumper is needed to stop the piston
Which does mean less work.Plus you could easily get 20 pistons out of a Body Board depending on size.

cheers for that advice. i just bought a metre of 1" copper pipe and holly molly was it expencive 40 bucks for one metre 
aus$$ and a 1/2" and wanna know what a good way of putting a support on the barrel so it sits exactly in tha middle of the chamber where the piston is going to seel it if that makes any sence any way i will try hot glue again because last lime i tryed that i stuffed it up when pouring into my tube it went all around the outside
