Hey,

So, after a few people wanted me to post something worthwhile in my effort to get my 50 posts, and after watching MythBusters do their failed Steam Cannon experiement last night off of BitTorrent, I decided to build a cannon. My goal here is to get a Bic Pen to go through a piece of 1/4" plywood. Yes, I am certain people will tell me my resevoirs are overkill, I know, I did it on purpose... So that I can re-use them later... You can see more pictures, and my commentary on the build here -> http://www.joeynovak.com And there is a link off the main page.

p.s. In case you are wondering, this is NOT my entry, just something to post about...

Oh yeah, no it isn't finished yet, I still have to build the frame to hold the barrel straight... Among other things...

is that .5 inch CPVC? that doenst fit bic pens that well....... try thumbtacks with 1/2 inch foam backer rod wadding. get that suck in plywood....... ppl think you are strong or soemthing when they cant get it out....... or you could use that as an airsoft shotgun. or, mabey it does fit pens. w/e i doubt youll be able to get that through plywood, but prove me wrong!

Yeah. and actually, ive seen a pencil stuck through plywood...... but that was with an entire N2 paitball tank and a barrel 20 feet long.... pretty cool though. i have the peice of wood somewhere.... its the gun that got me into spudders. its just amazing the guy who demonstrated it stuck wood through wood........

by the way, N2 tanks are at about 1200 PSI, NEVER put that in a spud gun. or any homade thing, for that matter. you will most likely die.

EDIT: you know, you gave me a great idea. You and me are now in a contest to see who can put the bic pen farther into plywood (if you want to). i have a feeling this can happen with PVC piping. and if i cant put the pen through plywood, well then what the hell, .5 inch CPVC fits nerf darts and works great as .177cal shotgunning. also, it works great for signle shot airsoft with PEX water tubing sheathed inside. WOHOOOO the pressure is on!

Take the electric solenoid pack off and drill a hole thru the very corner of the bottom of the cavity. The air will flow faster. Make sure to cement any other flow holes, as there are often redirect holes for liquids. Just get the appropriate adapter from a hardware store and put an air fitting over the hole. Thats what I did with mine.

I wonder what my HPA tank would do then. It is 5,000 PSI.
