I guess it was about 7 of the long glue sticks they were about 20cm long and i melted them in a tin can over a low flame as not to burn them.And it did require a bit of lubracation(sp) and a little wearing in which was about 10 shots then it slid in the pitol very easily.

It is kinda heavy its about 120grams or so i am going to hollow it out a little to lighten it for faster opening but it still works very well the way it is.

I didnt think of the idea myself Killa told me of it a few months ago and i thought why not give it a go as my last piston shat itself.

Nice, Kinda heavy though, but yes, hollowing it should help. I might try this once.

The mixture could have small pieces of foam added to it to lighten the whole piston or maybe it could be airated(sp)Like filled with small air pockets and bubbles to lighten it.

you know those little plastic balls they use to make isolation, or press it in to molds to protect a TVset in a box or something? (don't know how it is called in english) You could mix them with the glue. Or try to

That would work to lighten it most definitly,but to day i was walking around our local supermarket and saw pool noodles you might not be able to translate it so there is a picture below.

It might be a little to flimsy to use or may blow to pieces but its worthe a try as it would be super light.

Maybe you could buy some bean bag balls and add them to the mix,thye are fairly cheap and ubundant.

why do you have the spring on that piston
when you release air behind the piston, doesn't it slow it down because it has to compress the spring?

yes but it also stops it from slamming very hard into the pipe. Remember, a piston is practicaly a contained projectile and you need to stop it or at least slow it down so it doesnt break the gun. It also would help seal faster.

My big question is how in the crud did you keep the hot glue from sticking onto the pipe when you were forming your piston. I tried it and it stuck and wouldn't come out.

First you spray the pipe with non-stick cooking spray.

TYYYYY SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR THE IDEA, I CANT WAIT TO MAKE MY PISTON OUT OF HOT GLUE!!!!!! ive been fighting with the piston, i think this should work very good, hot glue (when solid) does it seal good?
just wanna know becuz i dont have a lathe.

did u use a coupler to make the piston shape?
did u put some lube when making the piston so the hot glue(when solid) comes out?
how the heck u fill up the chamber, i need some explanation on that.

You do require a sealing face of some rubber material or similar and I just used a pice of 50mm pipe which I sprayed some cooking oil onto and I placed it in the freezer to make it a little harder and eayer to get out of the pipe.I also had a hard time trying to get one fo these out before so i very CAREFULY cut 2 sections of the PVC and cracked them off the moulded glue.

Sorry guys, but they wouldn't make a good material for a silencer. Pool noodles have closed cells, so there isn't a large area for gas leaving the barrel to expand into. The whole idea behind a silencer is to basically give a large area into which rapidly expanding gas can go into and slow down, thus creating less of a shockwave. I've found that a piece of barrel with holes in it, with a larger pipe filled with cotton around the barrel sized pipe works great. Just connect it to the barrel with a coupler, so you can remove it if need be.
