I just made my first pneumatic with this modded valve. Problem is, I can't figure out why its not holding any air at all. That is, when I put the air into the diaphram it makes an air horn sound and lets all the air out. What should I do?

Spudman, I have a topic posted in Submit How-To's on how to make one. You should use 1/2" pipe and fittings inside it instead of 3/8 brass fittings though. It works better and it's cheaper.

I had that problem pneumaticman. Try pumping it up with the blowgun open. Air should come out the blowgun. The close the blowgun and start pumping. Some air will come out the barrel but at ~25 psi it should seal and be able to be pressurized.

what kind of solenoid valve are you guy's talking about cuz iv'e hooked mine up to a car battery and it won't fire under pressure and tell me what psi you are using cuz i'm going at 120 psi

Imagnum, you can use any type of valve that doesnt have a guide rod, if it has a guide rod, then just tap around it.
The Most popular pressures are 50-100 psi, and sometimes up to 300 psi.

The only valves I coud find were Rain Bird JVT 100s

They modified really nicely. When you look at that picture, the little black thing on the top right was were I drilled and tapped my hole. Just cut the protruding part flush, drilled the whole out to like 1/2 inch and tapped it. It has a good amount of threads on it. Plus it doesn't have a guide rod or require tools to take it apart. Also, they were cheaper than some of the other valves. I already fucking love these. I haven't tested them yet though, so no word yet on performance.

You can buy "sprinkler valves" already modified from The Spudgun Technology Center or BCVids Store or you can find then at any hardware/farm and ranch store like Home Depot or Lowe's or there Australian counter parts.

I looks like it would work. It may have a guide rod, you can't tell unless you open it up, but you can mod around them.

I am assuming you will use a chamber bigger than 3/4 inch, or at least I would hope you will. So, why not use a 1 inch and use bushings? Those valves do flow pretty fast, but it would probably be best to use as big a valve as you can to release the air as fast as possible.

And why does everyone use those Orbits? The Rainbird JVT 100 modifies beautifully, just unscrew the bleeder screw, cut that part protruding part off flush, and drill and tap it to 1/4 NPT. That area is thick, so you can get a lot of threads (I got 8 threads). Plus, the cap itself just unscrews instead of having to use a screwdriver. Whatever though, I just really like this valve. Plus it was like the cheapest one at Menards. Oh, and also no guide rod. I actually checked for that at the store. See, thats why I like how the top just unscrews like a mason jar top.
Also, the performance is pretty good. I was using my gun today using one of these, a 11 inch long 3in dia chamber and a 27in long 1in dia barrel and it was blowing water vapor clouds at around like 40 or 50 PSI.
