Hey How use going after i made my first small marble gun i've decided to upgrade im starting construction on my star picket gun i have about one and a half foot of class one steel pipe rated at well over 1000psi. This piece of pipe will be my compression chamber a larde backing plate will be pressure welded to the rear and a large piece with a threaded hole through it will be welded to the front where a large 2100kpa ball valve will be screwed in the welded ill then choose other bits of pipe to attach as barrels. i will be shooting at around 300psi each shot i also could connect small rope to the star picket and make it a harpoon gun
Id love some input and thoughts u have on this and ideas
Thanks Collo

mother of god......

Perhaps you could make the ball valve spring loaded? It will probably make the valve open quicker and increase your accuracy, apart from that you may want to make some kind of stand for it?

Make sure you post some pics too :D
Good luck

Hey Collo, thats a sweet gun you have planned there, you would significantly increase the performance with a piston valve though, there is heaps of info in regards to valves if you have a good look- just a suggestion and gook luck, cant wait to see pics. :)

hahaha in Australia we have these things called star pickets, the are a metal fence post that goes in between the timber ones as they are cheap and drive into the ground easy. When you look down the end of them you would see a Y shape, they would weigh about 1kg approximately.

Collo, mate for the harpoon why not have each segment spring loaded with a barb. You could sheath the tip with a small ring of pvc, when it exits the back of the object the barbs spring open as the ring will have been left on the front side of the target?
Just a thought, please, please post some pics n dmg    8)

well you could very well be right :) I cant judge small weights things have to be 15kg or more for me to notice the weight, and it would depend on what length they are too. But yeah I guess I was a tad lenient with their weight.

EDIT: just weighed 1 they are 2.7kg so you were pretty much on the mark

A harpoon gun would be awesome.I was thinking of making one....a while ago , maybe i will now. anyway if you live near water and have a boat (or ship  ) you should go spear fishing with it. (Just a suggestion not to go back on the rules it's just a practical use for a harpoon gun).

I'd like to see some pictures of it when it's done. :o .
