Hey guys. Just found out about this section and i guess this is where i post my pics. Messy job i did with the primer, but this is my second one with a modded sprinkler valve and using the chamber as a butt. Would like some rates, advice and opinions on it. Thanks. :)

Interesting chamber!
But those primer stains are.....interesting

Nice gun! Painting it would make it look much better, but it's your gun. You could've used a nipple between the chamber and valve, but all that does is make it more compact.

That's a really nice lookin' cannon you 'ave there. Have you fired anything else apart from marbles and paintballs?

Good lookin gun.
Does the marble clock in at higher or lower speed than the paintball?
Add a few more primer splashes and it could be an abstract masterpiece. :P

The paintball would have higher velocity, but the marble would have greater muzzle energy.

Hey guys. Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, the paintball got the marble beat by roughly 200fps!

I also tried to fire empty co2 cans left-overred from my little bro's pellet guns. Used a 3/4" sch40 pvc pipe to fire it. I was only able to get around 220fps with that. :( It could have been that the barrel was to large for it. I'll try to fire that with a napkin-wrapped sabot or something similar in the morning.

I did the math and a 3g paintball going at 729fps (222.2 meters per sec) would give it a muzzle energy of 74 joules. I don't know the exact weight of the 0.59" glass marbles so it's pretty tough to calculate the marble's energy,

Your use of primer is very modern art but interesting and original configuration and impressive performance, well done :)

nice gun good job...

question: 730fps seems a bit optimistic to me, may i ask how far away the barrel's muzzle was from the chrony? also wat ammo was used for this shot?

not doubting it but im just curious

peace

I appreciate the comments guys!

Modding the sprinkler valve made a tremendous difference in performance.

Hi chaos. The ammo i used to achieve 730fps was the low quality paintballs, the type that nobody would ever use in a game because it has a tougher skin, so it hurts like hell even at normal paintball speeds, and sometimes explodes in the barrel. The barrel's muzzle was about 3 to 5 yards away from the chronograph.

It's normal to doubt. I was expecting much better performance when i switched to a modded sprinkler valve. But I couldn't believe it when the chronograph displayed those numbers. Had to fired several more paintballs just to make sure the number weren't wrong and was getting readings at 716fps to as high as 740fps so far. When i was first shooting through the chronograph at 120psi, there were no backstop but there was a wooden fence about 3/8" thick and i thought it could take the hit but it has a couple of holes in it now.

I'll see if it can fire at 150 psi, but my sprinkler valve is rated to 125psi though. :(

I doubt it will explode, 25psi extra isn't much. For a lightweight projectile like your paintballs and the setup you're using, I find those velocity figures believable.

Nice looking cannon. The primer reminds me ofJackson Pollock's art. :D
Otherwise, it looks really good, with some great results too.

Rofl spud yeti. I guess i'll take that as a complement.
I'll try to keep the mess low on my next gun.

So far, i charged the gun to 150psi. One thing i did notice was how the tire valve was trying to pop out. I guess it was a good thing i used the thicker 1.25" valves instead of the regular 0.45" valves. Anyways, a few shot and i got around 800fps at that pressure. I think that will be my psi limit on this gun for now.
