Water Balloon launcher

Ok well i need ideas.... Ideas that can help create a water ballon launcher and a powerfull on. But one of the main problems is that the water balloon is likely to burst. Im not talking about cherries im talking about some big ones. So how could i keep the power while not risking the explosion of the balloon?

if i were you i would encase it in a a foam block or something of that nature, a sabot in other words.
use a sling shot, i garentee that if you make a "cannon" to do it you will be sadly disapointed.
also, this goes in "non spudgun related activitys", not the showcase.

It could be done with a really long barrel and a valve that opens slowly, rather than a modded valve or piston, maybe you could restrict the flow of air.
A sabot or similar would need to be used though (so the rubber doesn't get torn).

hmmm but in th eend that will reduce overall power. Or do you mean to make along enough barrel so the pressure builds up slowly?

I think its not about a slow opening time to make it not burst.
Its about the pressure you put behind the balloon.
So do a long-barrel, big-chamber and low pressure cannon.

Maybe if you make a sabot of a half soda bottle, the put the water balloon in the soda bottle, the soda bottle will fit in 75MM PVC. I made something like this, only I used combustion. Maybe if you´re using it as a mortar you could better use combustion, it´s much simpeler.

It's got to be possible. You'll just need a really good sabot with a lot of cushioning.

Say your gonna use a barrel with a 2 inch ID, take some cardboard and roll it around the full balloon, then take a half a dixie cup and use that as your base or sabot. Slide that down the barrel and you should be fine as long as the projectile stays together till it leaves the barrel.

I've done it. I used a
sabot and fired three at one time.
The cannon used was 1.5" barreled pneumatic with modded sprinkler valve, fired at 80psi.

I remember seeing
this a while back.
If I was you I'd go with a small calibre smoothbore (very smooth) and shoot very small (I'd say about 1 inch diameter) water bombs that have a piece of foam behind hem like hi said.

Edit- You could go sniper in a water bomb fight, though it would hurt the other person like a bizithc.

The kid please explain how putting soapin a ballon will prevent it from popping.Does it have anything to do with surface tension (which i don't think exist really in a ballon) or are you suggesting filling the ballon with soap entirely? these are really the only ways soap could make a difference one of them probally decent even exist the other unbelievably stupid and impractical. So are you just making some suggestion that is a stupid myth or do you have a sliver of info to back it up? I used my ballvalve pneumatic with a styrofoam sabot to shoot water ballons on a hill to make a nice sheet of ice to bobsled down in half a garbage can yup that was sooooo much fun and extremely stupid/dangerous at the same time i really miss those days
