Ok well I've had this project sitting in my work shop for awhile and all my mates say it wont work but i though i should ask the masters (you).

All the dimensions are in the pictures as shown.

Will there be enough psi to shoot a Golf ball a fair distance ?
or what psi would i need to pump it up to ?

Cheers for all the help

You seem to have enough chamber space and barrel length to have some decent fun with...it's going to be a little heavy I think. You don't describe how you intend to vent the chamber into the barrel....ie. valve, and seal the chamber.

Uummm all metal...pressure wise, practically, your quick connects and whatever valve you use will be your limiting factor.

Hmm with a 2" piston valve and a couple hundred PSI, that golfball will really fly.

Though that's require making a very strong piston valve. A ball valve could work decently if you had a longer barrel.

The weight doesnt bother me at all, i really wanted it to be heavy...ish

I was planning on putting a sprinkler valve in but if i want to get this thing up to higher pressures then that probably is the best thing to use.....Do you have any ideas ???

Ahhh thanks MrCrowley !, Im not really sure where to start in making a strong piston valve... and i know everyone will just say look them up but is there an easy or simple diagram or way to make one.

square tubing doesn't have very good pressure rating compared to round tubing.

No. Just No. Seriously. Don't even THINK about using square tubing for holding pressure.
It's not safe at all - no matter what pressure you use, forces get concentrated around the corners, and they WILL tear it apart.

The most dramatic failure of any pressure vessel I have ever seen wasn't so far as being square, but it was getting that way.
I was parallel testing it against a cylindrical vessel. It went at half the pressure of the cylinder - and had walls literally 10 times thicker.

I tried the same thing again at half the pressure - after a dozen or so cycles - it went from the repeated strains.

Pure "square", like your chamber, will be even worse - and in your case, it will be exacerbated again by the sides of different lengths.

It might not go the first time, but if you use any pressure worth using, it WILL go, and it will go VERY badly.
Metal or not, I wouldn't stand within 30 feet of that when it was pressurized, and I'd only be that close if I was in full riot armour.

In case I have not made it absolutely clear, do not even think about using square pressure chambers. Not even close to being worth the risk.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I'm with Rag on this one, just go to home depot and get some galvanized steel pipe or something.
