my gun is a massive piston cannon and the stand will role back when fired so i need enought hose so i dont pull on the hose. i think i will start out with the 6 foot and try it and if it is too long i will just make a new hose.

aproxamity how big around is the inside of a sprinkler?

will 1.5inch pvc flattened work for the piston?

the circumfrance is biggenough but is there something that will make it not work?

I don't see why a 1" pvc would not work.

in the book i think you said to use 2inch or bigger

the reduced thickness should reduce weight and increase preformance right?

There has to be a balance. You see, you will decrease the weight, but as you use thinner pipe, you will increase the travel time of the piston. 2" worked really well, which is what I recommended.

As far as the book goes, I just looked over it and I should change it to better reflect what I meant to say. After all, I didn't have a proofreader.

UPDATE:

I've added a section in the book to make an airtight piston as well as make a few grammatical changes. I've also removed the .ace download and put it straight on media file, since so many people were having problems with the unzip.

Enjoy

ok i got it now.

that airtight piston is a very good idea seems simple to make.
i am hoping that an airtight piston will be able to have a larger piolet volume because of the orings.

It works like any other airtight piston. AND, it works a lot better than the standard piston, allowing for just a bit more room for error, as most of us do not have a lathe to make precision cuts.

This weekend I should have some pics of mine and I'll edit the book once more, maybe even deleting the section on the standard piston. I think I'll also make a how-to of this and get it posted. Maybe others will begin doing this mod. I'd really like to see that...

for the piston i was planning on useing some 1 1/2 sdr 21 for the disks that has a thickness of about 3/32. i was wondering if i should get a 1/16 or 1/8inch thick oring. the 1/16 would fit loose and float while the 1/8 would be more of a tight fit.

also why did you just leave the chat like that?
