.22 cal pellet coax

i wanted a decent powered small bore so i came up with this. i run this at a max of 150psi right now because of a lack of a high pressure pump. but when i get one i will cut the epoxy end off because the chamber is oversize and sleeve the barrel in anougher alluminum tube so that it can handle more pressure because it is only .014in thick. at this low pressure i can still get 500fps.
the chamber is from a lamp, the lamp had this brass tube 11inches long and 3/4in od. the great part about it is that it is thick enough that i could thread the ends with 3/8in npt threads. this alowed me to make the piston servisable. the barrel is 36inches of alluminum tubing that is a perfect fit for .22 call pelets. when you load it you have to smash the skirt on the pellet ever so slightly and this gives it a near air tight seal and prevents it from sliding out. the piston is also made from part of the lamp. it was a decrative lamp and it had some thick clear plastic on it so i made a cirlce out of it and its great. now for the pics

great!, at higher pressures this thing will be a beast and only now i figured out how push buton valves work and they are very simple :)
call it LAMPY :D

Looks nice, I love clean looking cannons.
You might have a problem with that push-button valve at high pressures. I made one in a 1/2" ftting that required me to bang it on the table pretty hard to get it to open at 260PSI. :lol:

yeah the trigger is a bit stiff at 150psi. enought to through off my aim a tad. but i just hold it steadier and shoot a bit to the side and its deadly accurate. it is made in a 1/4 by 1/8 bushing and id have to measure it to figure exacly the force required to open. i cant realy make one smaller to reduce the force cuz they dont make a smaller bushing that i know of. at higher pressures i will either remake the entire trigger to be blanced or put a lever on it.

Why not put a hinge and lever to make pushing the button easier?

you could try abbing a lever to the push-button valve for more mechanical adavantage (like a blowgun)

rele? ive already corrected some on that maverik. yes the barrel is epoxied in place. a better choice would have been to thread that end too and use a 3/8 plug with a hole in it and epoxy the barrel to that but its too late now. and its about 1/2inch thick jb weld so i dont think its going to break :D

I believe two part epoxy has a much stronger bursting strength than it's adhesive quality...meaning that it will fail sooner by slipping from place than actually breaking.
So a restriction in whatever it's holding together will benefit it greatly.

Yeah, for higher pressure maybe a lever will be needed on the trigger.
500 fps from 150 psi is impressive IMO.

Generally, a lot of people clean off their clothes with that type pressure regularly (although not recommended safety wise),
but still, point blank range 125-150 psi air blowers work well for cleaning one's clothes off at end of day!

oh yeah dont worry about the jb weld losint its grip, i taped the end very deeply so the epoxy in is the spiral grooves. i made sure it wasnt going to blow out on me. only thing is that on the barrel i counld only ruff it up soo much becase of the thin walls. but 1/2inch thick epoxy and only 1/4inch diameter is up to the task
