Paintball pistol valve

What kind of valve is used for paintball pistols? (actually paintball guns in general, too). If someone could find an animated diagram that'd be great.
I got into a pump/pistol game and I love it so much more than the generic pray-and-spray of usual games. This got me reinterested in spudguns and now I want to make one.

there are pumps wich are modified autocockers, which i can't help you with, but my spump( spyder turned into pump) uses a poppet valve. heres some diagrams
the second is like a reversed version of the top kind of [/img]
edit: these are the most basic of valves for paintball guns, spool valves are more complicated to make and such, and there are more

These are more often called hammer valves on this site. You could use a piston or diaphram valve, or maybe a large DCV.

There's the PGP pump pistol which uses a hammer valve similar to the phantom posted above,
32 degrees made a small semi pistol a few years ago using a hammer valve blow back design.
The newest and most interesting pistol design I've seen uses a clever spool valve design, is made by tiberius arms, called the tac8

The small calibre paintball pistols, which are actually pistol shaped, are now quite compact and have equally compact valves, something like the Kingman Eraser training pistol, the pistol sold as the RAP4 RAM50, or the Tiberius pistols.
I remember seeing a diagram or a cross section of one of these markers and wondering how they could be used for much more compact semi-automatic spudguns.

Thanks so much guys. The goal in head my remains semiautomatic pistols. I dream about the day I dual wield my way around the field.
Btw, my friend's uncle has a machine shop where he almost completely builds jeeps from scratch.

I'm saying goodbye to my hacksaw and drill days.
