So i have built a combustion cannon and a few pneumatic cannons before all have been in the style of Design A. My question, are there any advantages to using the U-shape like in design B? Which provides better performance?

Which is the best for a pneumatic cannon using a sprinkler valve? A or B?

Ball valves (design A) have a very slow opening time, and in general are going to be inferior to basically any other valve (QEV, hammer, piston, diaphram etc)

i'm not using a ball valve, replace the ball valve with a sprinkler valve. It was just an example to demonstrate the different shapes.

The question is whether having the u-shape adds anything or takes away anthing. or if its jsut for looks

Oh. I believe any bend will add turbulence=decrease flow, so A might have slightly better performance, but I don't think it's much of an issue.

where do you make these fancy pictures? lol.

i think i'm going inline 2' 4" pvc chamber down to 1" for the valve then back to 2" then from there have a female adapter for interchangeable barrels. if there's a place where i can make these images it would help a lot
