COOL! so you put it with the arrows facing the way you want the air to go, sounds good!

if you dont have a pipe threader you can put some slits acrose the threads so it acts like a pipe threader to make it easyer. :D

you dont need to mod it....i even used the solenoid in my gun.....I put three 9 volt batteries in series and used a switch and a doorbell to make a electric trigger!; (awesome) which is much faster than a manual one...

ummm, they're the same thing. A solenoid valve is a sprinkler valve, The solenoid acuates the diaphragm which lets all the air out. I think sprinkler valves are just an American nickname for them as I have to search for 'solenoid' valves in New Zealand not sprinkler valves even though they're the same thing. I think your wondering what's faster solenoid actuation(sp?) or pneumatic actuation(sp?), well the answer is clearly pneumatic moddification, why else would you mod it?

definately, the solenoid sometimes only lets out enough air to let the diaphram vibrate.
If you use a blow gun air is released much faster and makes a very satisfying
air sound

okay i hate to ask a "help me" question on this forum but i have too...iv been doing pneumatics for a while...but im new to this valve "mod"...i have modded it and have a hose coming from the valve (same valve as is in the picture) and that is connected to my blowgun...though when i release the air and let the valve open...it works letting the air out and allowing the projectile to leave the barrel...only it doesnt stop instantly...it lets out quite a bit more air and makes an annoying foghorn sound...seems as there is a way so its just a burst of air so you dont waste all the psi in your tank? im beginning to question the "mod"...on my potato cannon the solenoid works great...what im working on above is for darts and marbles...

in my gun (sniper) i have a 4in pvc tank that has a hose to my gun (sections of pvc before the valve) then it goes from there..
so in trying to prevent all this wasted air i put a ball valve where the hose connects to the gun from the tank, so i can let pressure into the gun...close it off then fire...its not as much trouble as i thought...but when after i fire and let new air in...the valve lets out quite a bit before closing...i know pressure is supposed to close it but it seems it could do it in a more timely manner...any advice on how to work out this problem? thanks

The 'honking' you get is covered in loads of topics on these forums just search for it to solve your probelm.

So you're trying to get multiple shots out of it?
Problem:
It's not closing because the equalization hole is too small, therefore it doesn't have enough air coming in on the top of the diaphragm to seal and close.
Solution:
1. Take the valve cover off.
2. Find the equalization hole. It's the tiny little hole inside the little sharp plastic cone.
3. Use a drill and a small bit, say, 1/16." Use it to enlarge the hole a little.

This should work, but you may need a slightly larger pilot valve. A blowgun has low flow, so try to get a high flow blowgun from http://www.mcmaster.com or a 1/4" ball valve. A bigger pilot valve will also stomp your honking.
