1" Cap with neopreme bolted on.

Um, yeah… doesn’t work, just tried it, 1” cap doesn’t fit in 1.5” PVC.
I’m in the process of trying to figure out the same thing. I cut two disks of 1/2” birch cabinet grade plywood, bolted together and a neoprene fender washer I got at home-depot. I had to wrap it in duck-tape to make it work at all. But it still doesn’t work two well… say, does anybody know what I did wrong?

you could lathe a 2x4 down to 1.5" and screw on a sealing face. Plus you can make it as long as you want to decrease pilot volume.

Yeah that’s a great idea. Except I don’t have a lathe and uh, would it not be hard too turn a 2x4, not to mention a waist? Or was that a joke?

first you would cut a bit off of the 2x4, or you could use a 2" dowel/post. Second, doesn't your local school have a lathe?

Don’t know, I’m home-schooled.
Does the piston have to fit tight?

Pretty much. You could also use the Making A Piston Video in the BCVIDS Sticky.
