I plan on making a steel piston valve and hopefully not use any Orings but I had a few questions. I was wondering what size pilot hole is needed to be put in the piston for equalization to happen? Also what should I use for a bumper behind the piston?

i dont know about the equalization hole but put a spring and some foam behind the piston as a bumper

you dont need an equilization hole if it doesnt hvae O rings, trust me.

You definatly need a bumper. it would have to be a spring AND foam. a steel piston would be so hard that it would simply shader the pvc if you dont have a very good bumper.

use a different piston the less weight the better...hi my piston that u helped with didnt have orings and it needed equalization holes..it wouldnt let any air throguh barely

A circular piece of neoprene will work well for a piston bumper.

Well the whole thing is steel, so do I still need a bumper?

Why not, you'll only cause unnecessary stress to the structure if not.

Ok so I guess I need to build something, would a spring work?

Springs work well if you get the rite one, lenth, tension, ect...

Well I am trying to continue a machined type of cannon theme, so I guess that a spring is my only real choice.
