How do I adapt a Bernzomatic propane bottle to a hose?

You need a torch adapter or you can buy a special adapter from BCARMS I think. My bottle came with a torch adapter for a few bucks more but you need a 1/4" compression fitting to use it with normal threads.

Since I couldn't find one in NZ, I epoxied a 1/2" nipple over it instead, which still allows me to use it as a torch adapter:

Edit: They're like this:

just unscrew the top piece that has the holes in it and slide a piece of hose over the torch and hose clamp it, simple and fast. works fine.

And, the mod is reversable so you can still use the torch. Ths hose doesn't even need to be clamped in place if you are just using it to fill a syringe. For higher pressures you'll need clamps and hose with a high enough pressure rating.

It's also possible for the angled pipe to be unscrewed from the valve module. You'll need a long handled pipe wrench, a mounted vise and some warmed up muscles to break it loose, but it will finally give up. They use some tough loctite or epoxy gunk to lock it down.

You can then use a 1/4" male compression to 1/4" male NTP brass adapter to convert to standard connectivity.

What I've done is cut the pipe with a hack saw just below the angle, then used a 1/8" NTP tap to cun threads into the pipe itself. It worked excellent! just be sure to get the treads straight if you do that.

I clamped a hose (forget what size) onto the regulator. It wasn't the best solution, but it allowed liquid propane to enter the tank. I wouldn't recomend it though/

There's an interesting nozzle that came with a husky blow nozzle I posted about here:http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/possibl ... 14939.html
Still haven't made anything from it, because propane just hisses out and I wanted to use it to power a cloud.

I read about doing that, but I don't see how it would have power.
Maybe I was mistaken and the guy had re-pressurized the bottle with higher pressure air(?)

Just heat the hose with hot water, and push it over the nozzle, and fasten with pipeclamp, or wire(It works better). Its simple, yet effective

One more thing, if you just remove the mixer, leaving the stock tip, and use a hose and clamps, it is almost impossible to get liquid propane out of the tank. The liquid just can't get through the tiny hole surrounded by the thermal inertia of all the brass. So, the stock tip has the advantage of blocking liquid but the disadvantage of reduced gas flow. The stock tip probably puts out something in the vicinity of 10~20cc/second at 1 ATM and ~75F.

I would say that for most uses you really don't want all that high a gas flow rate anyway. You certainly don't usually need whatever the maximum flow rate the Bernzomatic's needle valve is capable of.
