Tripple Barrel Spud Cannon

This is my third spud gun. It has 3 48" long 1.5" barrels that rotate on the center shaft for quick reloads. It takes 2 people to reload but with some practice it goes pretty quickly. You can breach load the 2 barrels that are not locked in to the chamber. I used some banjo cam lock fittings to lock the firing barrel in place. Propane injection and 3 spark tazer ignition with a 12V internal mixing/venting fan. The left grip has an arming switch while the right grip has a firing switch.

Really nice job on this cannon!! It would also be nice to see it in action in a small video. Some closer details of the construction would also be helpful.

One bit of warning. The intake valve is aimed directly into the shooter's chest. My experience with this setup is that you WILL invariably forget to close that valve before you shoot. It won't be pretty if the shooter is in position when this happens, which is very likely. Because of the shooting location, I would recommend a 90 degree or even 180 degree intake port so as to divert the inevitable "back shot" away from your chest.

Starman - you are right on the money, I have left the vent valve open a couple of times luckily when I shot the valve has been chest level so only my chest hair and my pride suffered the effects. I'm working on a diverter now.

And yes, the tripod was from a hallogen work light set. It has great height adjustment and is sturdy enough to hold up the cannon. The barrels weight quite a bit so in order to balance it out I had to add a few pieces of steel rebar into the center pivot rod on the back end.

When I was taking pictures of it outside my garage I had someone drive by stop and stare at it for a while, I was sure they were going to call the BATF or Homeland Security. I'm hoping the dayglow green tripod says it's just a toy - a bad ass spud tossing man toy. But I am thinking it needs a matching black tripod.

BTW, Normally, I think the more things are black, the better. However, I think the day-glo stand looks fine like it is.
