overly large Hybrid?

Harness the power of precision mixtures of pressurized flammable vapor. Safety first! These are advanced potato guns - not for the beginner.

That is something of an understatement.

This will be an expensive undertaking by private individual standards, dare I ask "Whom is funding this project?"
Considering D_Hall's shop has a similar sized one, I'm not so sure he's not going to get the attention of gubment institutions.... as well as psychiatric ones..... LOL

even without pushing it to the limits, he's talking about a gun with a range measured in miles, and even local authorities will prolly frown on lobbing objects that far....

BUT, It will be COOL!!!

Me and my neighbor (he's an industrial high pressure pipe welder) have the materials and the plans for a gun with similar capabilities, but I'm not so sure we can find anywhere in a 100 mile radius to actually test it... However, it will be pneumatic...

That's what I was saying.... D_Hall's employers might not take kindly to something that stout in the hands of the private sector...

Well Im not going to tell you how much I think I could make this design for. You would laugh. But I wont compromise on safety

YES I realise that this device IF created will be highly dangerous if used insensibly.

Just remeber that I havent committed my self to build it yet.
I am still in the planning stages.

That's one thing that I see mentioned, but seriously, what's the big deal? It shouldn't be difficult to find such a place. We aren't talking about a 13 year old kid with no car. We're talking about a grown adult with considerable resources at his disposal and a trailerable gun. Finding a place to shoot such a gun? I can name about a thousand off the top of my head. True, the odds are against that place being in his backyard, but if he's got the dedication to build this thing, he's probably got the dedication to drive a few hours (or even days) to shoot it too.

You really only need a single gap in a hybrid, but go for multiples if you want. Consider that the higher air density makes the spark have a harder time to jump, and two gaps doubles the problem. Also, as your chamber gets larger it's integrity will be worse..making it weaker. Watch out for that, but good luck.

Again, for anyone who's got the dedication and resources to do what the OP is trying to do, this is a trivial concern.

And multiple gaps can be important for large scale hybrids. Not AS important as it is for simple combustion guns, but consider your heat losses to the walls of the gun (see: Jimmy101's work). Quadruple your burn time and quadruple your losses.
Also, as your chamber gets larger it's integrity will be worse..making it weaker.
Only if you're an idiot with no concept of the words "proper design."

Well its been a long time since I updated on this project . I had lined up approx 30-40L pressure vessel but due to going in to my dream job training (which is well super fun), all my projects got put on the back burner (like 3 years).Im not going to say too much as I will do a write up after the build process is completed but, I have an approx 19l high pressure vessel ( I know down scaled  ) in my possession and have just placed an order for the barrel steel. So once I've accumulated all the necessaries and get to my welder mate, the fun can begin

I doubt most people have a backyard big enough to fit the actual launcher in :D
