VERA: My very favorite gun

Harness the power of precision mixtures of pressurized flammable vapor. Safety first! These are advanced potato guns - not for the beginner.

Am I the only one permanently saving all pictures and videos posted in this thread? :)

Good job (again) on VERA! Are any low weight fuels (hydrogen, methane) in the works?

Nah. Propane is totally adequate. Why make it harder than it has to be?

Pretty much just a burst disk valve.

You say "just", but it's a substantial construction on this scale...

Photos had been posted before but to my knowledge disappeared, are they approved for public release now?

I didn't think there would be much point elaborating considering jerome had to ask what the valve even was. Granted, jerome probably wasn't here when the "Pipe Dream" thread was active, but I figured there was no need to give details of what thickness sheet metal is used, how big the flange is and how David gets the disk to seal in the flange as I doubt it would matter.

I think most people familiar with burst disk valves can get an idea of just what material is required and what fittings are needed/available for such a large cannon.

Hasn't done a thing for me so far. But from my perspective the most important thing was to have a publically accessable video so that when a potential customer asks, I can send him the link rather than have to snail mail it to him (video won't go through email).

From that perspective, it's already gold.

I also know that it's making the rounds because I had a customer for another service I offer at the office make a comment about having had it forwarded to him by a third party a few states away.

Wish me luck. Today's the big day. Today Vera gets showcased a bit more officially....
