CO² extinguisher hybrid

Harness the power of precision mixtures of pressurized flammable vapor. Safety first! These are advanced potato guns - not for the beginner.

This is my first hybrid, built during the holidays because I had too much free time, the chamber is an old 3,5L fire extinguisher (supposedly strong enough to hold 264bar), it's fueled with a big syringue, ignited with a piezzo taken from a cigarette lighter and an homemade spark plug, and uses burst disks.
I have tried a mix2 shot with no projectiles and it's very loud, too loud to shoot it in my suburb, i'm impatient to try a mix10 shot

Superb! and fuelled with a syringe too, for the win!

Looking forward to see what damage this thing can do :)

Yes, it's very easy to fuel precisely with a syringe, but quite boring because of the big chamber, even at mix2 I need 6 full filling with a 60ml syringe

can you make your own syringe of an appropriate size to speed fueling?

Carbon dioxide extinguishes work by displacing oxygen, or taking away the oxygen element of the fire triangle. The carbon dioxide is also very cold as it comes out of the extinguisher, so it cools the fuel as well. CO2s may be ineffective at extinguishing Class A fires because they may not be able to displace enough oxygen to successfully put the fire out. Class A materials may also smolder and re-ignite.

CO2s will frequently be found in laboratories, mechanical rooms, kitchens, and flammable liquid storage areas.
