Is there a more active website than this?

I think I'm late. Most of the posts were made 15 years ago. I missed the most active period of the forum. Is there a more active forum now? Or a telegraph group or something?

I think the fact that this forum is slightly active at all is because it's more or less the only such forum left, at least in the Anglosphere.

There is also the Francophone "Patator" forum that used to be very active but it's even more quiet now, there is a post from more than 5 years ago lamenting the death of that forum.

I'm also semi-active on Gateway to Airguns but there is no discussion of gas-burning launchers and it's mostly centered on commercially available air guns, with home made projects and experiments being peripheral.

I noticed that you are one of the few active members, and it has been going on for more than ten years. Your love for this hobby is admirable!

Many things have come and gone, but the pleasure of blasting holes in things is difficult to beat :D

It's a shame that this sort of practical hobby seems to be in decline with modern generations.

You think it's bad here? Try getting involved in making pulsejets :P

"the death of the forum" has been ongoing for a while, with several technologies vying to take its place. All sorts of gamifyng and the like, and it pulls users from forums with glitz and pizzaz, but the problem as I see it is that they don't, at least in my experience, engender the long-term commitment to a site or group that forums do. It's all short term, instant gratification, short attention span stuff, and it's general, from creative hobbies to forums that were more oriented as chat groups amongst friends. Plus forums cost money to run, and the newer stuff can rake in ad money more easily.

That said, I said much the same about forums back in the days of newsgroups :)

It is good here. there are few of us who publish but it is all interesting for me. I guess you can continue to share qualitatively, but not quantitatively. ;)

Not sure if the world also just got a bit more PC or woke or whatever they call it now. Given all of the bad gun related news, wielding plumbing fittings for unintended purposes can label you as a bit of a, character.

I know I would be uncomfortable talking about it at work, but all the CNC machines are sure tempting... always thinking about it, never doing anything. Though, new years resolutions...

I think it was always like that, on the other hand it's true that society seems to be increasingly polarized, therefore individuals that might have been indifferent in the past are now more likely to have a stronger opinion.

Maybe we've just grown older and lost that youthful nonchalance, but I say it only leaves temporarily :D
