I'm using a mounted air pump to pressurise a chamber for my portable bbmg in a way like kangstas: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/highly- ... 13193.html

Unfortunately mine isn't going to be duct-taped right to the ball valve like his is; so I need to run a hose through the gun. Does anyone have any ideas about how to attach said hose to a pump?

I was thinking about this bike pump: http://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/GYPUOW706 and this one: http://www.dynamicsport.co.nz/shop/coac ... o-way-pump but neither can attach a hose to them properly so I need to figure out some other way. It seems pumps of this design don't have hoses attached to them - it's only the foot ones.

Would making my own pump out of pvc work? I don't know much about those diy pumps, I need to research them.

Cheers, revans

You could make a hose out of a couple of hose barbs and some pressure rated tubing.
In regards to a homemade pump: PVC one should work fine, but a copper one will yield higher pressures/ be a bit safer. Look in the how-to forums for a recent article/post about building your own pump.

Yeah I could try the hose barb thing, but I don't trust my ability to attach a hose barb air tightly. I found this though which I'm pretty sure would do the job: http://vanilladesign.marketeer.biz/prod ... oductid=74

Well just a thought if ur thinking of attaching an inbuilt pump into ur air chamber... you'll need a ball valve (size of pump) because there'll be air leaks if u just put the pump on the hose / valve / chamber on itself

in other words... the handle of the pump will push itself out by itself due to the air pressure in it. but if u have a ball valve u can close it and it'll be air tight...

i'm kinda working on this atm, trying to figure out if i should just 3cm cut piece of pvc pipe with the drill holes of a normal vortex block (more easier) or use a vortex cap (won'th ave the compact design for me atm)

well anyway i kinda live in australia and my only ammo would be arts and craft beads and since paintball is so expensive i'm just trying to find an alternative for skirmish and so this project would be good....

also a question is paintball guns and stuff in the bb/ airsoft/ pellet discussion?

I don't know about the paintball posting thing but . . .

yes, I will be using a ball valve - this is an oldish version of my design here: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/my-vort ... 13419.html

Hmm i need some money too -_- i'm going to look for parts this weekend... and just buy a cheapo pump it doesn't have to be good...

anyway what u gonna do if u manage to make a portable gun?

ha actually I'm from New Zealand. haven't heard about that built in air compressor, that'd be sweet. just bought the pvc for my bbmg, when I'm done I'll probably knock a few cans over, it'd be good if it was light enough for fights with people, I guess I mainly build this sort of stuff because I like finding out about stuff and building it, good luck keepin yours under $25, pvc and stuff is expensive as !@#$ over in NZ and aussie compared to the US

i'd get the ne from torpedo.

ive brought on from there and it works excelent, goes up to 160PSI easy.

As for the air line, thats also easy, buy a couple of 1/4" shrader valves from Mcmaster or what ever (dont have link im sure if you search you will find), then a 1/4" Coupling, then 1/4" hose barb slide on pressure rated pipe and hose clap on, repeat for other end, but no shrader valve and vi-ola!

EDIT: the tire valves / shrader valves (1/4") are from BC Arms. ill edit a link in, in a sec.

EDIT #2: Heres that link: http://www.bcarms.com/product_info.php? ... 7805ff71f2

Hope this helps.

what that small pump 160PSI easy? thats 'kind of hard to believe but how big was ur air chamber?

and yeah did you use a shrader valve or did u make the the pump inbuilt?

cause i'm trying to attempt to make these guns portable for skirmishing with my friends and i need a quick way recharge the air after wasting it on burst firing with the vortex

thats alright thursto.... lol i'm just hyped of making these tho the money hurts lol....

Yeah well whats ur opinion on this...

inbuilt pump (with the nozzle sawn off for more air to push in) + ballvalve
vs.
the shrader valve pumper?

Ummm thats a tough one.

cutting it would increase flow, but you'd probs loose the check valve and what not, and possible leaks etc etc.

but yes money does bite like a female doggy

i'd go with the Shrader valve, because that way if you rebuild the gun/ take it apart etc, its not damaged, and also if you buy the expensive pump it'd be pointless to damage/ruin it

EDIT:
yet is quick at inflating tyres to a maximum of 120 psi with it's telescopic design.
so it can reach 100 PSI easy.

i was gonna use like a cheapo $6 sports pump with it's nozzle sawn off so it wouldn't be too much of a big deal and i'm going to use the standard blowgun on the vortex... any idea how much that kind of blow gun cost? cause i'm looking for a cheap one lol

Well over here a standerd on cost about AUD $7

(Aussie land)

but i dont know where abouts for you, where you live?

but try the standerd sports pump add a ball valve will make it easy,

also you probably could make it pump - ball valve - small chamber- ball valve - other main chamber.

that way open first valve and leave other closed pump, close first open secon. repeat etc.

haha i'm from aussie land too :P

i'm from brisbane, queensland thats why i've been inflatuated by making portable airsoft guns ... i'm sick of using nerf modded bb guns and glove guns so i want to make some thing more versatile and fun like auto bb guns / semi-auto

what do you mean pump+ ballvalve+ small chamber + ballvalve + other main chamber

like i need to attach the blow gun somewhere lol
