I was wondering if anyone had seen this:

Be sure to check out his other projects to the left hand side of the page.
They look some of the most impressive builds I've ever seen, it's a shame they're only airsoft though, so they don't give that much power.
The guys name is Candyman.

Holy freaking no wai! When I saw this thread, I thought "yeah right, believe it when I see it". Dang, the DSR-1 is freaking sweet! How is even possible to machine something that mind-blowingly cool?

Impressive, especially in view of this:

Tools being used are first and foremost a pillar drill, this is essential, not just for drilling straight holes at 90 degrees but also for drilling to consistent depths. A good strong vice, files (big and needle), a hacksaw and some wood work tools for the wood such as a saw, chisel and sandpaper. This are all the basics, I also have certain other tools that make the job so much easier. These are a dremel (actually mines made by JCB and seems pretty good) M3, M4 and M5 taps for cutting threads into the metal. A scroll saw, again not essential but handy, they are a little electric saw with a vibrating blade, you can cut 2,3mm ally with it so long as you lube it with WD40 and a few other odds and ends, cordless drill, etc.

I'm usually more of a fan of functionality as opposed to aesthetics, but this is some really fine work.

But besides that, It all depends on how much time you want to spend on something.

The DSR-1 sure looks like a cool bull-pup. Other stuffs nice too.

IMO He should move somewhere and build Real rifles. 8)

They are truly beautiful guns, really professional looking. With that much time, money and effort he could make somereally nice spudguns. Being from the UK I bet he hasn't heard of them before though. I might just email him. Any guns or things you think I should mention in particular to get him interested? I was thinking a BBMG vortex and maybe Hotwired's Copperhead

Very nice , especially given the limited number of tools he has to hand.
I imagine he could find a very good future in doing that professionally.

Yeah, he lives in Birmingham, so I thought I'd give him a shout too.
As far as I can tell, he only has a small mill amongst various hand tools.
Having him on the spudding team would certainly do us all good.

True, but I don't really want the real thing, airsoft is more fun than target shooting and hunting.

DAM he's good.

He's carved all the furniture out from great big blocks of hardwood...

...and NO MILL OR LATHE

Even for the really thick chunks of ally he just drilled pilot holes with the pillar then either drilled/sawed most of the section out then finished with files and rotary tool.

Anyone from this point on saying that they can't make this, that or the other for lack of a huge chunk of expensive machinery should be forced to view his site.

Inspiring stuff.

*edit: it's interesting really, I was thinking about making a cannon that was semi-supported by wooden furniture but as I've done precious little woodwork myself I was wondering how I might go about it. It's good to have some kind of example to base your own planning on

You can compromise, buy one chambered for 6mmBR and load it with airsoft BBs and primers only, something like these - you'd get the bang, as well as the flying spent brass
