Started serious airsofting for a month now and apart from boosting the team moral with the blast from my modified GBBR I decided to make an remote controlled claymore the night before a game, as the game play always involves defending something. Not very hard since I gathered a lot of parts over the years and owning some decent tools and a 3D printer.
The mine is controlled by a garage door commander unit with 50m range, solenoid valve piloting a 3/8 exhaust port QEV, chamber is from a GHK GBBR magazine. Printed the launch tubes, 3 layes of 6 tubes with a spread of 120 degrees. each tube can be load with 3 bbs (one click from a quick loader).
Took it to a game and it worked. Now planning for a better version since this one doesn't provide much of a bang. The problem is duo to the slow pilot (the solenoid has only 1mm orifice) and the chamber to QEV port is only 1/8. I tried a manual pilot the QEV and the bang is louder but I need this to be able to compete with the CO2 grenades.
So I have two plans. One is replace the solenoid valve with a 3 way solenoid (the flow is much better), thread a 1/4 port to the QEV to the chamber and use a bigger chamber as well. Plan two is replace the solenoid+QEV with a 3/4 sprinkler valve, with a section of 3/4 pipe as chamber.
The down side of plan one is it's a complicated package, more things to go wrong and leak, plus is kind of a wast use the 3 way for single action. Down side of plan two is the sprinkler pilot orifice is small as hell and since I never used a sprinkler in my life I don't know the performance of a shop bought sprinkler. I might consider use a modified sprinkler for a bazooka later tho.

Any progress on this? Why not modify the sprinkler valve and pilot it with a smaller electronic valve that you can trigger with the garage door opener?

I've had similar plans back when i was still actively airsofting, But using a 3/4 QEV instead. You should get one of these tho: http://www.rfremotech.com/AlphaFire2B1Q.html

100/200m range depending on the surroundings. Chinese so it's pretty cheap too! It uses 6v so you will need a relay. Other than that it's the same setup as you have right now. This should be quite an upgrade on itself. But yes, keeping it all leak proof will be the bigger challenge. I've even had some of those 40mm BB shower M203 grenades go *click* after a few hours of playing...

Perhaps some chemical thread sealant like the loctite ones instead of teflon tape. Oh and maybe some very loud alarm that goes off when someone would try to move/remove it. Unless you trust all the players involved, airsofters can be very sour losers. And i'm not necessarily talking about the younger ones

Pilot a 3/4 sprinkler with the current solenoid valve would be slow too.
Anyway, I'm waiting my CNC router to arrive so I could make a more pro version, with motion detector.
