Experimenting with a self contained pump action airsoft using an air cylinder and springs to provide the power. Using a 1 1/16" bore X 2 " stroke cylinder.

Cylinder is on the top and facing forward which means it needs to be pushed forward to compress springs rather than backwards. Will be self loading if I can make it work, FPS is not critical as I want to use it indoors :D

Neat idea to have the cylinder compress forward instead of back, I've seen this in Nerf guns but never an airsoft. Seems like it would be good for a compact bullpup as you seem to have.

If this one works I plan on building another with double the size cylinder and barrel, probably forward facing cylinder as well for the compactness.

The original version of the Silverback SRS A1 cocked the piston on the forward stroke but most users didn't like it, they came out with a conventional rear cocking piston conversion kit shortly after and eventually phased out forward cocking altogether.

the only benefit I can see from the forward cocking is it would give rearward recoil effect :D

A bit of progress, bracket in the middle is for the grip, sprig guide needs a locking collar for the charge handle to push on, trigger not figured out yet or linkage to rear to load.

Its construction looks excellent. Is it made of aluminum? or is it brass?
It looks like a super weapon for the house. Very good work!

pretty much all stainless steel

Got a real trigger made, pull is really light. Had to braze the springs together as the ends were binding on the guide as they moved, have 2 lengths to try.

Grip made from 3/4" plywood.

Trigger latch needed a bit of a detent to keep it latched

More done, linkage from charge handle to rear to be made and trigger needs a return spring, power seems low but that's what I wanted. The springs are about as much as I can push, rearward charging is definitely needed for more spring tension.

A few tweaks and it's ready to go back together again, just the connecting rod to make from the charge handle to the loading arm at the rear.

You see a very good construction, (as always, in your projects). It is nice to see someone who has and carries out a project from these sides. I congratulate you, and I look forward to new things from you. :D

Trying to make a different/better system for the spring charge/loading handle, this looks much better than the sliding handle I had at the front. The handle would jam very easy because it was trying to twist as it was sliding, the new handle takes much less effort and will be more compact. Still a work in progress
