My spare parts mini pneu.

I found an old push-button valve and a copper toilet-fill tube in the garage, and figured, WTH, why not? I ran up and bought a close nipple and a compression fitting, slapped an old schraeder valve in it, and screwed the whole thing together.
Then I shot myself in the hand with a paperwad at 300psi and spent the next five minutes clutching my hand and crying/cursing. I haven't done anything that stupid in years. Now I've got a nasty little 1mm blood blister in the middle of my left palm.

Anyway, pics of cannon and damage.

What the heck is that valve?

This is a very nice spare parts cannon and the idea of using the pump hose as an air tank is very practical.

Very powerful

Nicely done, a bit of work could make it into a neat little pistol.

Oh, and:

Classic spudding mistake, *never* underestimate the power of your launcher. It's almost on par with "looking down the barrel in case of a misfire" :D

"Then I shot myself in the hand "

" I haven't done anything that stupid in years." (STILL  )

Very good timing and delivery. :D

Pretty neat! A spitball gun an "roids". :)

thats nifty, i wonder what kind of flow a push button valve has? would it be suitable for piloting a smallish QEV

I have no idea what the valve is. I bought it last year when I was trying to build my big sprinkler valve cannon. I did get it off McMasterCarr, but that's all I can tell you.

EDIT, just searched McMasterCarr, and it is a push button valve, cat# 6790T42

I'd say it would pop a 3/4" QEV pretty easily. It might even be big enough for a 2". I'll do some experimenting to see when I redo the big one again.

7 or 8 gets it up to 300psi. I find myself wishing I'd bought the 260psi floor pump, though. This thing will never fill my 1/2" cannon's tank.
