mah new getto mini

Here's the latest mini (no, rly?). It's modeled after the Cobra Venom by Moonbogg. I was aiming for it to be nearly identical but several things got in the way:

-You can't buy 3mm camlocks, and my drill press was broken so I couldn't make a union
-Epoxy wouldn't have appreciated the anodizing
-You can't get 2mm ballvalves (please don't mention sprinkler/dripper valves, as they are crap. This was replaced with a check valve.

Though I did manage:

-All aluminum (except for the chamber cap)
-Over/under configuration with a nice looking support
-working spark gaps that don't shock the rubbish out of you

so..

Chamber: 9 mm id, 2.5cm long (it's longer, though plugs occupy a fair bit of space)
Barrel: 3.5mm by 12cm
Over/under configuration
2 spark gaps
Chamber fan replaced by check valve
Fuel: propane/mapp, soon to be oxygen and hydrogen

Of course fueling this thing is darned hard, probably harder than building it. Metering out the correct amount of fuel would be close on impossible to get right.

So fueling will be carried out by a blowtorch, using a premixed fuel mixture to purge the chamber, or a stoichometric oxygen-hydrogen mix..

So I guess you want some pictures..

So. Lemme know what ya think. Haven't even tried to fire it yet.

Got a good cannon you want me to make a mini of? PM me.

Edit: the photos don't show it up well. It's nice and shiny..

After we go up to Perth on Friday to get a switch to fix the drill press I'm going to make a split mold and cast same lead foster slugs. Range won't be great, but will be more when I switch to oxy-hydrogen due to it's higher burn rate.

Once the drill press is fixed I might make a tiny little union out of a stainless steel bolt and nut.

Thanks

You have GOT to be kidding me! First of all I feel honored that my cannon inspired your mini. Thank you. Second, thats an amazing job of micro fabrication. When I saw it next to a tic tac container I almost craped my pants. I'd love to see it work. If it works at all I will be impressed as hell.

Cool, thanks!

I don't think I'll paint it blue as it probably won't come up very well, though I might yet add a fake black box and forward chamber support.

Seen as there's been requests, I'll go play with some fuel and try get it to work..Updates sooooon.

Edit: God my lighter has run out. Ignition works fine, I did manage to get a shot before it ran out.. I'm not wanting to throw solvents in there due to it largely relying on epoxy. I'll head down the store soon and grab a new lighter when it's open.

Wow nice job keeping it mini I have 2 questiones what did you use to make the elbow and from what material is the chamber constructed??

I cant believe you got it down to this size :O nice job

It's all aluminum. The chamber is aluminum pipe stock from a hardware store and the barrel/elbow is telescoping tube from a hobby store, which is available in aluminum and brass.

The elbow was a bloody pain to get right, it took many tries..

UPDATE: Added fore barrel support.

It uses the next size up of telescoping tube and the barrel could slide freely within, so that if I make a union for it it will remain and serve some purpose.

Edit: I had a black box made up for it, though it didn't like it would add anything and was discarded..

Nice work. Cool idea of making mini-replicas of other members cannons. :)
Hey why dont you minimize clides GBsemi? :D

I prefer doing combustions..much easier to keep it scaled.

The semi would be impractical to do with any lower chamber size than 10mm due to o rings..

Awesome job on the barrel support posts. Looks like you got the scale down perfect.

That is friggin awesome!!!
Any chance they will be for sale?
If so, How much???
I want to make an awesome Keychain out of one.
I'd probably fuel it with starting fluid and N2O though. 8)

Holy $h!t!!! It's perfect!

The scaling looks exactly right. And it's so small...

Don't shoot your eye out. :)
