Working on a valve of a different stripe...

Have been working on this for a little while now. Think I've about got it figured out, but "a fresh pair of eyes" may see something I'm missing.

Overall design layout is similar to the Air Force rifles, with the striker being propelled toward the rear.

It's knock to crack/blow open with the step on the spool (hopefully) providing a degree of self regulation similar to that found in typical poppet valves (hammer valves). A spring can be added to aid in regulation should that be found necessary.

The rear block (seen on the left) is to be threaded to accept paintball type tanks...co2 or regulated hpa. Hopefully length of pull won't become an issue.

Have yet to decide whether to countersink some more shcs to retain the rear bottle mount block or simply thread it...leaning with threads.

It's not going to be .22 cal.

That looks really promising. I assume the screw will hold some kind of sealing?
It doesn't look like there are any flaws in the design, the only weak spot I see is the sealing face and possible blow outs over time.
Considering your experience with your hpa coax, that shouldn't be a problem.

The screw will be a stainless piece and is just there to take the abuse dealt out on the spool by the transfer of energy.

The spool will otherwise be one piece, made from either delrin or nylatron. Been having good luck with machined seats and perimeter sealing valve stems in the pcp builds(nylatron @ 2500-2700psi), so I'm thinking to take advantage of a harder seal for the improvement in performance it offers.

I believe it could be done ..but not this time. A rifled and choked, 9mm barrel blank of 34" should be arriving this week. 8)

Although... no telling what the future holds Jack...might be something worthwhile.

Think I may have found a "guy who knows a guy" with a rifling machine...might make an accurate monster bore airgun a real possibility. Will know more about that next week after I talk to him "face to face".

I've never found another source for this information but:

Modern note: Powerful, modern, silenced, 9mm PCP airguns are being used by U.S. Seals in Iraq to snipe at insurgents. Firing an M-16 at dawn or dusk could attract a lot of return fire to the flash point.

In my view this sounds a little odd, a properly suppressed firearm will be just as quiet if not quieter, flashless, much more compact and required no ancillary gear other than a pocket full of cartridges.

I'm picturing a 4 or even 2 bore PCP, that would be beyond words...

The Eunjin's will work, but they're a bit pricey here. Was leaning toward using cast and sized .358"... pistol rounds for "light"...rifle rounds for "heavy". Will likely crank out a custom mold as well...have been doing some research into subsonic rounds, and have a thing or two I'd like to try out.
